Watch: PETER CRISS Joins BRUCE KULICK On Stage At Nashville's CREATURES FEST
May 30, 2022 Original KISS drummer Peter Criss joined former KISS guitarist Bruce Kulick and his solo band on stage Sunday night (May 29) at this year's Creatures Fest at Nashville's Sonesta Nashville Airport Hotel. Together they performed the song "Hooked On Rock 'N' Roll", which originally appeared on Criss's 1978 solo album. Fan-filmed video of the performance can be seen below.
Kulick's group, which also features singer and guitarist Todd Kerns, bassist and singer Zach Throne and drummer Brent Fitz, performed mostly songs from Kulick's 1980s and 1990s KISS era.
Criss first left KISS in 1980. Since then he's worked with other bands and released solo albums. He teamed up with KISS again for a reunion tour in the 1990s and most recently in 2004. He was replaced by Eric Singer.
In addition to playing drums in KISS, Peter also provided lead vocals for a number the band's most popular and memorable songs, including "Beth", "Black Diamond" and "Hard Luck Woman".
Criss, who was known as "Catman," released his last solo CD, titled "One For All", in 2007. Peter produced the album himself for the first time, and was joined by guest musicians that included keyboardist Paul Shaffer and bassist Will Lee of "Late Night With David Letterman". The album featured a range of styles, from rock and jazz to blues and Broadway, and included covers of "What A Difference A Day Makes" and "Send In The Clowns".
Criss played what was being billed as his final full U.S. concert in June 2017 at the Cutting Room in New York City.
Bruce joined KISS in 1984 and accompanied the band on the "Animalize" tour and continued with them until the reunion tour. Bruce is heavily featured on "Kissology – Vol. 2" and "Vol. 3", the band's DVDs spanning their historic four-decade-plus career.

KISS Manager Reveals ‘We Don’t Talk’ to Peter Criss in Reunion Comments
Todd Fooks Published: June 23, 2022
In a new interview, longtime KISS manager Doc McGhee sheds some light on whether all the original members of KISS might be on stage together at some point during the End of the Road Tour. The long and short of it is, it's not looking good for Catman Peter Criss.
In a KISStory spanning interview with Vinyl Writer Music, McGhee drops quite a few hints that Criss, original drummer and co-founder of the group, is the least likely OG member of the band to come back and play and that the band isn't even in contact with him. This seems like a different tune than what McGhee was singing in 2019, when he said they had reached out to Criss to be on the tour.
When asked about the "near-constant speculation if Ace (Frehley) or Peter will be joining the band on stage (during the final tour)", McGhee repsonds: "Honestly, I don’t know. You can invite them, but they may not come. They may come, they may not come, and we might not invite them. We’ve talked to them, and we’ve talked about it. Well, we don’t talk to Peter, but we do talk to Ace. We haven’t talked to Peter in a long time."
One of the significant shifts in journey of KISS came when Criss bowed out of the band in 1979 after it was widely reported that he simply stopped playing during some of the their shows. His next intersection with the band comes when Criss and Frehley came back for the 1996 KISS MTV Unplugged performance, leading to an instantly sold-out Reunion Tour the next year. McGhee doles out praise for Criss in looking back on that moment.
"So when we started talking with Ace and Peter, getting them in shape, and getting ready to do, it all just fell into place. I mean, I don’t think we could have done it without those guys, not by any means. I don’t think anybody would have bought into it."
But later in the interview McGhee relays his thoughts about Criss' again departure post the Farewell Tour and general commitment to the band.
"Ace and Peter, as they were definitely logging out, especially, Peter, for sure."
And another bit where McGhee implies that Criss might not be his favorite member of the band's all-time lineup.
"Listen, I think Paul said it best, 'There’s no way that KISS could have got to where they were going without Ace and Peter, but there’s no way KISS would be here today without Eric and Tommy.' I have all the respect in the world for Ace and Peter, especially Ace."
But McGhee's parting thoughts leave the door open for everybody to get together, with a caveat.
"But you know something? They (Criss and Frehely) were part of it, they aided in starting this band, and they should be part of the end of this. They started this, so in some way, they should be able to share that spotlight on the way out. Now, regardless of if it happens or not, you’re not going to get six guys up there in makeup. That’s not going to happen."
KISS is currently in the heart of the End of the Road Tour, which is not without it's own controversy independent of who's onstage. They were recently hit with bad press over using vocal backing tracks during a show, and that gave Ace Frehley an opening to pour in some salt.

Watch: PETER CRISS Sings 'Happy Birthday' To JOHN 5 At ROB ZOMBIE's New Jersey Concert
August 1, 2022
Original KISS drummer Peter Criss surprised John 5 by leading the audience in a spirited "Happy Birthday" sing-along to celebrate the guitarist's 51st birthday during ROB ZOMBIE's concert in Holmdel, New Jersey Sunday night (July 31).
Prior to launching into the song "Shake Your Ass-Smoke Your Grass" at the PNC Bank Arts Center, Rob addressed the crowd: "Maybe you know, maybe you don't know, today is J5's birthday. As you know, J5 is a really big KISS fan, so I thought to myself, 'What can I get John 5 for his birthday that he doesn't already have?' I went out and got him an original Peter Criss… You don't have this at home, J5, I don't think."
Criss then came out on stage and told the audience: "Hey, listen, it's Johnny's birthday, so I wanna say I'd like you all to sing with me happy birthday to Johnny 5." Everyone happily obliged and a visibly touched John 5 gave Criss a hug before the legendary rocker walked off.
Criss and John 5 are longtime friends, with Peter having made a guest appearance on the guitarist's latest solo album, last year's "Sinner".
John 5, whose real name is John William Lowery, spoke about the collaboration a year ago during an appearance on Sirius XM's "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk". He said at the time: "Peter Criss is playing drums on the song 'Georgia On My Mind', which is the last song on the record. And I'm telling you… This guy… Barry Pointer, my producer, flew out to Peter's house, set up a couple of mics. Now, this is a jazz type of song, and Peter is known for that jazz feel he has. I shit you not, he sat behind those drums, played two takes. Barry's mouth was dropped open. Wait till you hear this. I mean, it was perfect."
John 5 continued: "It's something you can't teach, is this feel and this vibe. And he nailed it in two takes. And Barry was, like, 'Well, what do we do now?' It took him, like, literally probably eight minutes. And it was just perfect. He was, like, 'There's nothing else we can do. That was perfect.'"
In a 2014 interview, Criss said that he had been working with John 5 on material for a new rock solo album, which he promised would be "heavier" than the stuff he had done in the past.
Criss, who turned 76 last December, played what was being billed as his final U.S. concert in June 2017 at the Cutting Room in New York City.
This past May, Peter joined Australian rockers SISTERS DOLL on stage during their concert at the Cutting Room to perform three songs.
