Watch: ACE FREHLEY Performs KISS Classics In Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania
June 11, 2022 Fan-filmed video of Ace Frehley's June 10 performance at Sherman Theater in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania can be seen below.
Last November, Ace said that he had collaborated with his longtime friend Peppy Castro on "some heavy songs."
Peppy reportedly taught Frehley how to play guitar and previously collaborated with KISS bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons as a songwriter and performed on Frehley's and KISS frontman Paul Stanley's solo records.
In December 2020, Frehley told Talking Metal Live that he would start recording his next all-original album in 2021. The record will be the follow-up to "Spaceman", which was released in October 2018 via eOne. At the time, he said that had "been writing all along. Plus, I have tracks that I've already recorded that I have to revisit and decide whether they have a chance to make it on my new studio record — [if they] have to be rewritten or [they're] just good the way they are," he explained. "And I've got people sending me song ideas constantly… So, little by little, it's an ongoing process, and it evolves as it goes."
Earlier in 2020, Frehley told Canada's iHeart Radio that he had "only written about three songs" for his next LP, and he added they were "not finished." He said: "Now that I'm [living] on the East Coast [after moving to New Jersey from Southern California], my engineer only lives an hour from me, Alex Salzman, who worked with me extensively on this last record, and he played a lot of bass guitar as well, So it's gonna be even easier, 'Origins Vol. 3' and the next [original] record."
Frehley's latest release was "Origins Vol. 2", the sequel to his 2016 collection of cover songs that inspired the former KISS guitarist.
"Origins Vol. 2" featured cover versions of THE BEATLES' "I'm Down", DEEP PURPLE's "Space Truckin'", LED ZEPPELIN's "Good Times Bad Times", THE ROLLING STONES' "Jumpin' Jack Flash", THE KINKS' "Lola" and THE JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCE's "Manic Depression", among others. A cover of the 1975 KISS tune "She" also appeared as a bonus track. Guests on the set included CHEAP TRICK's Robin Zander, Lita Ford and former KISS guitarist Bruce Kulick.
KISS bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons co-wrote two tracks on "Spaceman", "Without You I'm Nothing" and "Your Wish Is My Command", the latter of which also features Simmons's bass playing.

ACE FREHLEY Calls Out PAUL STANLEY Over Allegedly 'Using Tapes' During Live Concerts
June 12, 2022 Original KISS guitarist Ace Frehley has called out Paul Stanley for allegedly using pre-recorded tracks during the band's performances.
The 71-year-old Frehley touched upon Paul's supposed reliance on backing tapes during his concert Saturday night (June 11) at the Palladium in New York City.
Prior to launching into the KISS classic "Detroit Rock City" with his solo band, Frehley told the crowd (see video below): "This song's a great song written by Mr. Paul Stanley. By the way, we don't use tapes. Anyway, this one's about a city in the Midwest on Lake Michigan. It's called 'Detroit Rock City'."
Ace's comments came less than a week after a rare "mistake" by KISS drummer Eric Singer during the band's concert in Antwerp, Belgium revealed what some fans are saying is proof that KISS is using pre-recorded tracks during its performances.
Several KISS fans who attended the group's June 6 show at Sportpaleis shared video of KISS kicking off the set with "Detroit Rock City", the classic song that has consistently served as the live opener for the band's live performances in recent years. At the end of the track, Singer, who has played with KISS on and off since 1991, apparently "[forgot] to rest for a measure," according to YouTube commenter Austin Ogonoski, "instead continuing to play the standard beat for two additional measures. " After "Eric [realized] he [messed] up," he "[began] the drumroll/breakdown a measure late," which "[meant] Paul's vocal track [was] out of sync with what the band [was] actually playing," Austin explained. "Paul's track [played] 'Everybody's gonna leave their SEAT,' completely out of sync with the song and when nobody [was] at a mic."
Ever since KISS's "End Of The Road" trek launched in late January 2019, there has been persistent online chatter about Paul allegedly singing to a backing tape. The speculation stemmed from the fact that Stanley had been struggling to hit the high notes in many of the band's classic songs for a number of years.
In a 2014 interview with the Metropolis Nights magazine, Frehley was asked about Stanley's comment in Guitar World magazine that Ace "stopped practicing" his guitar playing and "got involved with a whole lot of things that really diluted and diminished his craft." Ace responded: "I didn't read that, but I think that's hysterical. For Paul to try and say something negative against me as a guitar player? Come on! He should listen to himself playing live. He's one of the sloppiest guitar players out there. He's more worried about jumping around and pointing his finger. That's been the problem since the beginning of KISS. We all used to yell at him for making so many mistakes. I would try and cover for him. So for him to take a shot at my guitar playing…. Is he out of his mind?"
Back in 2018, Ace said in an interview that his hypothetical return to KISS could make it easier for Paul to handle the band's material in a live situation.
"I told Gene [Simmons], 'Get me back in the band and I'll sing five songs, which will take the pressure off Paul,'" Frehley told SiriusXM. "It sounds like a good plan. But I don't make the decisions anymore with KISS."

Watch Ace Frehley Take a Shot at KISS for Using Backing Vocal Tapes
Joe DiVita Published: June 13, 2022 At a show at The Palladium in New York City on June 11, Ace Frehley took a shot at KISS, who were caught using backing vocal tapes at a concert earlier this month, as he introduced the song "Detroit Rock City."
For years, fans have accused KISS of either lip-syncing or singing along to backing vocal tracks to aid the overall quality of their concert performance and when drummer Eric Singer made a mistake at a June 6 show in Belgium, it threw the band off and Paul Stanley's voice was heard when he was not present behind the microphone toward the end of "Detroit Rock City."
The miscue also resulted in a pyrotechnic effect firing off at the improper time with the performance out of sync.
Frehley, who has continuously sparred with Stanley and Gene Simmons in the press for a number of reasons, the subject of his possible return to the group being the most prominent lately, used this opportunity to rib his former bandmates at his own show.
"This song's a great song written by Mr. Paul Stanley," Frehley tells the crowd in fan-filmed video seen below, "By the way, we don't use tapes. Anyway, this one's about a city in the Midwest on Lake Michigan. It's called 'Detroit Rock City'."

Ace Frehley Calls Out Paul Stanley Over Kiss Using Pre-Recorded Tracks Live
Fans accused Stanley of relying on vocal tapes after a mistake during a show last week.
Posted 18 hours ago . JorgeM93
Former Kiss guitarist Ace Frehley has taken a jab at frontman Paul Stanley over the alleged use of pre-recorded vocal tracks during the band's live shows, as reported by Blabbermouth. During a performance with his solo band at the Palladium in New York City this weekend, June 11, the musician addressed the crowd before launching into "Detroit Rock City":
"This song's a great song written by Mr. Paul Stanley. By the way, we don't use tapes. Anyway, this one's about a city in the Midwest on Lake Michigan. It's called 'Detroit Rock City'."
Frehley's comments arrive a week after Kiss was under fire by fans due to a mishap during the group's concert in Belgium, where a live mistake by drummer Eric Singer hinted at the fact that the band was using pre-recorded vocal tracks.

ACE FREHLEY Cancels Summer 2022 European Tour 'Due To Unforeseen Circumstances'
June 17, 2022 Original KISS guitarist Ace Frehley has reportedly canceled all of his previously announced summer 2022 European festival appearances, including the Czech Republic's Masters Of Rock and United Kingdom's Steelhouse Festival.
Steelhouse promoters Mikey and Max said in a statement: "We have been informed by Ace Frehley's representatives that, due to unforeseen circumstances on his part, he needs to cancel his entire European tour including his appearance at Steelhouse."
The organizers of Masters Of Rock released a similarly worded statement, saying: "Unfortunately, we will not see the original guitarist of the famous band KISS and subsequently the successful solo artist Ace Frehley at Masters Of Rock this year! We are extremely sorry, but his management has canceled all his planned summer shows in Europe. The changes are sometimes really unpredictable, and so is the official reason for canceling his show: 'Due to unforeseen circumstances Ace Frehley's performance has been cancelled.'"
In December 2020, Frehley told Talking Metal Live that he would start recording his next all-original album the following year. Kiss Manager Addresses Possibility of Ace Frehley and Peter Criss Performing on Final Show: 'They Started This, and They Should Be Part of the End'
"Regardless of if it happens or not, you're not going to get six guys up there in makeup." Posted 8 hours ago
Longtime Kiss manager Doc McGhee has recently addressed the possibility of Ace Frehley and Peter Criss joining Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley on the final night of Kiss's ongoing "The End of the Road" farewell tour.
This April 19, Gene Simmons & Co. finally got to get back to their massive farewell tour, after which the history-defining story of Kiss is bound to come to a close. And while there's still a bit of time left before early 2023 when the band intends to play their last-ever show, it still remains uncertain whether Kiss would end the same way it began - with Ace Frehley on guitar and Peter Criss on drums.
Over the past several years, the relationship between Ace Frehley and his former band members has certainly had its ups and downs. In 2017, it seemed like Frehley and Simmons finally buried the hatchet after collaborating on the latter's solo album "Spaceman" and even sharing a stage later during the same year but soon got back to the usual exchange of small unpleasantries.
Still, Simmons reminded Frehley how the offer to join Kiss for a show or two during their final tour still stands as he wished his former bandmate happy birthday through a tweet earlier this April.
On the other hand, things have been rather quieter on the Peter Criss front, and in a recent interview with VW Music, the longtime Kiss manager Doc McGhee confirmed that the band hasn't been in contact with the ex-drummer for a while.
When asked whether Frehley, Criss, or the guitarist Bruce Kulick would be showing up at the band's final performance, McGhee said: "Honestly, I don't know. You can invite them, but they may not come. They may come, they may not come, and we might not invite them. We've talked to them, and we've talked about it. Well, we don't talk to Peter, but we do talk to Ace. We haven't talked to Peter in a long time.
"But you know something? They were part of it, they aided in starting this band, and they should be part of the end of this. They started this, so in some way they should be able to share that spotlight on the way out. Now, regardless of if it happens or not, you're not going to get six guys up there in makeup. That's not going to happen."
Earlier on, McGhee addressed some fans' remarks about Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer being "fake" versions of Frehley and Criss, saying:
"Listen, I think Paul said it best, 'There's no way that KISS could have got to where they were going without Ace and Peter, but there's no way KISS would be here today without Eric and Tommy.' I have all the respect in the world for Ace and Peter, especially Ace. I think he really changed the way of listening to and playing the guitar... I can name fifty off the top of my head, so many accomplished musicians who were influenced by Ace.
"So yeah, when people say, 'Oh, that’s fake Ace,' Okay, in some respects, it is. But guess what? He's so good at it. Tommy is so good at it, and with Eric playing the way he does, they both drive Gene and Paul to do what they do so well..."
McGhee goes on to say that 20+ years of successfully performing under the Kiss banner have proven Thayer and Singer's worth as full-fledged members, adding how the two musicians provide an invaluable backbone for Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons: "You can say, 'Well, I would rather have this person up there,' well that's your opinion. The fact of the matter is that Tommy and Eric have stepped up, and brought KISS to a new level musically, and that makes Gene and Paul's lives so much easier. It makes it so that they can just walk out there and do their thing. They wouldn't be able to do that with the backbone of the band, which is Tommy and Eric."

Ace Frehley is best known as the original lead guitarist and co-founding member of KISS. As “The Spaceman”, he played with the group from its formation in 1973 until 1982. The success of Ace Frehley’s solo career, as both a recording artist and performer, has easily outpaced his former KISS band mates. His 2014 release, Space Invader, was the only post KISS solo album to crack the Top 10 on Billboard’s Top 200 albums chart, and his acclaimed 2011 autobiography, No Regrets, went on to become a New York Times best-seller. Ace’s current album, Origins II, was released on September 18, 2020 and features guests Robin Zander (Cheap Trick), Lita Ford, Bruce Kulick and John 5.
Frehley was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014 as a member of Kiss, and was also ranked the 14th Greatest Metal Guitarist of All Time by Guitar World magazine. He is also known for the use of “special effects” guitars, some of which emit smoke and light effects.

ACE FREHLEY Is Putting Finishing Touches On New Studio Album
November 29, 2022
Ace Frehley is putting the finishing touches on his new solo album for a tentative early 2023 release.
The original KISS guitarist offered an update on the LP's recording progress while sharing a list on social media of his "Best 10 Sci-Fi Movies Released Up Until 1960". At the end of the message, he wrote: "My New Studio Record is nearing its completion! Hopefully it will be out Spring-Summer 2023!!!" Back in November 2021, Ace said that he had collaborated with his longtime friend Peppy Castro on "some heavy songs."
Peppy reportedly taught Frehley how to play guitar and previously collaborated with KISS bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons as a songwriter and performed on Frehley's and KISS frontman Paul Stanley's solo records.
In December 2020, Frehley told Talking Metal Live that he would start recording his next all-original album the following year.

Gene Simmons Says Ace Frehley Was Right About Kiss’ ‘The Elder’
Martin Kielty Published: December 1, 2022
Gene Simmons now agrees with Ace Frehley's criticisms of Kiss' 1981 album Music From 'The Elder.'
Their dispute led to the guitarist's departure before Kiss made 1982's Creatures of the Night. But not before The Elder, with its full-album concept and orchestral elements, polarized fans and sold poorly.
"When I look back, despite his demons, in some ways Ace was right," Simmons tells Guitar World. "We did need to make a rock record – and he had said that all along. Ace had said that The Elder was not the record that Kiss should make, and he was right.
"But the thing is," Simmons added, "we had people around us telling us it was a good idea, and things didn’t go according to plan. We got off track. That happens in bands, and Kiss is no exception. So, where Ace was wrong was, he didn’t stick with the band."
After the failure of Music From 'The Elder' and Frehley's exit, Kiss began working with a handful of session guitarists — including Frehley's eventual replacement, Vinnie Vincent — on Creatures of the Night. The album didn't sell well initially, but it marked a turning point for the band and remains one of Simmons' favorites.
"When I look back on Creatures, even though it wasn't successful initially, I look at it as us finding our footing again," he said. "And when you look at [the mid-'80s albums] Animalize, Asylum and Crazy Nights, these are all gold and multiplatinum records. We went on to sell out arenas and headlined outdoor festivals worldwide.
"I don't think many bands could have gone through the changes we have, as many times as we have," Simmons concluded, "and still come out successful."

ACE FREHLEY Did KISS "A Favour" By Appearing In "I Love It Loud" Video - "That Was A Mistake... He Didn't Know The Song And Had To Fake His Way Through The Entire Thing," Says GENE SIMMONS
December 2, 2022, 2 days ago
Celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, Creatures Of The Night from 1982 is a seminal album in the KISS catalog. It crushed fans’ expectations with a huge, back-to-rock sound and has become a fan favorite and cult classic.
On November 18, UMe released Creatures Of The Night 40 in multiple configurations, all available through the official KISS online store, here.
Gene Simmons talked about the release in an interview with Guitar World, and you can read an excerpt from the article below:
With the release of Music From "The Elder" in 1981, KISS lost their credibility not only with fans and critics, but also their lead guitarist, Ace Frehley. After years of pleading with his bandmates to return to the bread and butter-hard rock that granted KISS fame and fortune, Frehley had become wildly disillusioned with KISS' direction. Moreover, his substance abuse and erratic behaviour further exasperated an already troubled situation.
"By the time Creatures happened, Ace was already gone," recalls Simmons. "Ace doesn't appear on a single song on Creatures Of The Night. His only appearance was in the promotional shots, and he did us a favour by appearing in the 'I Love It Loud' music video. But even that was a mistake because he clearly didn't know the song and had to fake his way through the entire thing. So, not only were we feeling very unsure of what we were doing, we didn't even have a lead guitarist."
