It had been a rough time for KISS, their stock the lowest it had been for years following the poorly received ‘The Elder’ concept album, their usually sold-out tours struggling to fill arenas.
There had also been a change in the line-up, drummer Peter Criss having been replaced by Eric Carr, devoted fans concerned about the shift in personnel.
Where to go and what to do to restore their fortunes uppermost in their minds, KISS did what they did best and went into survival mode. Fighting for their very lives, the band headed back into the studio and were determined to come out swinging. The result was ‘Creatures of the Night’.
Now viewed as one of their very finest albums, it’s a much heavier beast than their previous output and contains a number of tracks that were to become live staples of their set to this day. From the dazzling roar of the titular opener and through to the anthemic, Gene Simmons led ‘I Love It Loud’, the album was an adrenaline-soaked blast that had an appeal to an audience way wider than those who had been fans throughout the years.
With the huge surge of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal creating a tsunami of fresh metalheads craving their fix, ‘Creatures…’ filled that itch and then some, the gloss that KISS had some miles away from the meat and potatoes of most of the English bands from the era.

Blockbuster after blockbuster tore from the speakers, ‘Keep Me Comin’’, ‘Danger’, ‘I Love It Loud’ and the crushing ‘War Machine’ all had enough power and excitement to grab even the most casual observer. The album even had a ballad but given that ‘I Still Love You’ is still one of the best things the band has ever written and Paul Stanley’s vocal one of his finest and most emotive even this stray from the blisteringly feral template that informs the rest of the album.
Arguably, there may be one or two tracks that don’t quite match up with the rest but that’s a minor point and for most this is a release to be played from end to end without skipping and still sounds raw and exciting today, forty years after it was first launched onto the world. With this new mix it also sounds better than ever, a stomping, fire breathing monster that would have Godzilla running for the hills.
Truth be told, things weren’t entirely rosy behind the scenes, Ace Frehley hardly playing on the album at all, most of the guitar work done by a number of other players but mostly by Vinnie Vincent who’d replace the six-stringer after his telegraphed departure.
It may also have been the new bloods input that helped refresh the band as well but whatever the reasons, ‘Creatures of the Night’ rocked harder than ever, the songs and performances some of the best of their career. The wave continued with their first truly ‘unmasked’ album ‘Lick It Up’, but that’s another story for another time.

Being a Fortieth Anniversary re-release the Super Deluxe edition features a total of one hundred and three tracks, three quarters of which have never seen the light of day before. As you make your way through discs two and three of alternative versions, outtakes and demos there’s some fascinating
listening, some of the tracks like ‘Deadly Weapon’ and ‘Betrayed’ punching hard, tough bubblegum rockers ‘It’s My Life’ and ‘I’m A Legend Tonight’ and curios in the form of ‘Something Seems To Happen’, a classy AOR ballad all revealing some gems.
Two more discs feature live soundboard recordings the ‘82/’83 tour and are a pretty dirty, dangerous selection, the band at their most feral and not taking prisoners. As with such source material, the recordings aren’t polished but excitingly true to the sound of the shows and the roughness around the edges adds an authenticity and claws-out edge to the whole.

A mix of new and classic material providing a perfect snapshot of the time, the band sounding tight and reinvigorated, proud of the songs and the on-stage rapport they’d regained.
With seven tour sound effects added on for your listening pleasure, the album set is something that will give hours of pleasure and we know that’s exactly as Messrs Simmons and Stanley would want you to have.
Bristling with energy and a rediscovered fire, ‘Creatures of the Night’ is a vital purchase and can stand alongside of ‘Destroyer’ and ‘KISS Alive’ as the solid gold heights of their recorded work. Every home should have a copy.

À vrai dire, les choses n'étaient pas tout à fait roses dans les coulisses, Ace Frehley jouant à peine sur l'album, la plupart du travail de guitare effectué par un certain nombre d'autres joueurs mais surtout par Vinnie Vincent qui remplacerait la six cordes après son départ télégraphié.
C'est peut-être aussi l'apport de nouveaux sangs qui a aidé à rafraîchir le groupe, mais quelles que soient les raisons, "Creatures of the Night" a secoué plus fort que jamais, les chansons et les performances parmi les meilleures de leur carrière. La vague s'est poursuivie avec leur premier album vraiment "démasqué" "Lick It Up", mais c'est une autre histoire pour une autre fois.

Comme avec ce matériel source, les enregistrements ne sont pas polis mais fidèles au son des spectacles et la rugosité sur les bords ajoute une authenticité et un avantage à l'ensemble.

Un mélange de matériel nouveau et classique offrant un instantané parfait de l'époque, le groupe sonnant serré et revigoré, fier des chansons et du rapport sur scène qu'ils avaient retrouvé.
Avec sept effets sonores de tournée ajoutés pour votre plaisir d'écoute, l'album est quelque chose qui vous procurera des heures de plaisir et nous savons que c'est exactement ce que MM. Simmons et Stanley voudraient que vous ayez.
Débordant d'énergie et d'un feu retrouvé, «Creatures of the Night» est un achat vital et peut se tenir aux côtés de «Destroyer» et «KISS Alive» comme les sommets en or massif de leur travail enregistré. Chaque foyer devrait en avoir un exemplaire.

Creatures of the Night is the tenth studio album by American rock band Kiss, released in 1982. It was the band's last for Casablanca Records, the only label for which Kiss had recorded up to that point. It is also the band's last album recorded with Ace Frehley credited as an official member and their first album with Vinnie Vincent, as the initially uncredited lead guitarist. Vincent would later be credited but not featured on the cover of the 1985 reissue of the album. It was also Kiss' last album to feature the band with their trademark makeup until their 1998 release Psycho Circus.

KISS: Creatures of the Night: 40th Anniversary Super Deluxe Edition (UMe, 5 CDs + Blu-ray audio). KISS was in crisis mode in 1982. Their previous three albums — 1979’s disco-influenced “Dynasty,” 1980’s poppy “Unmasked” and 1981’s concept album “Music From ‘The Elder’” – were critical and commercial failures. The band lost original drummer Peter Criss in 1980 and original lead guitarist Ace Frehley was largely missing in action by the time Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons and drummer Eric Carr hit the studio to begin work on “Creatures of the Night.” Lead guitar duties fell to a rotating lineup of Robben Ford, Steve Farris, Bob Kulick and Vinnie Vincent, with Vincent cowriting several songs and officially replacing Frehley in December 1982.

KISS decided on a leaner, hard-rocking return to form and, while the album initially failed commercially, it garnered positive reviews and has grown in stature over the years to where it now is considered one of KISS’ best albums. (Afterwards, the band removed their facial makeup and released the career-rejuvenating “Lick It Up” in 1983.) In addition to a harder sound, the album has a heavier, darker mood, as in “Rock and Roll Hell” and “Danger.” The single “I Love It Loud,” with its stomp beat, has been performed on nearly every subsequent KISS tour, while “War Machine,” the ballad “I Still Love You,” with its emotive Stanley vocal, and the title song featured heavily in their live sets for years.

This edition has 103 total tracks, with 75 being previously unreleased. Newly remastered on the first CD, the original album has improved sound. The title track is the thunderous opener, signaling the raucous, more heavy metal approach. “Saint and Sinner” features Vincent’s nice guitar on the instrumental break. Ford played the guitar solos on “I Still Love You” and “Rock and Roll Hell.” The heavy “War Machine” closes the nine-song album.

The second and third CDs feature 34 demos, rarities and outtakes, including the unreleased demos “Deadly Weapon” and “Not For the Innocent” and outtake “Betrayed.” More of their previous glam rock is “I’m a Legend Tonight,” one of four tracks previously released on the “Killers” compilation (1982). Also, from “Killers” is Stanley’s terrific “Nowhere To Run,” which also appears here in demo and instrumental versions. “Deadly Weapon” is punchy, while “Feels Like Heaven” has a very different, jaunty sound. Five instrumentals wrap up disc two. Disc three includes the first two takes of “I Still Love You” – one heavier, the other sloppy – and some fooling around. There are three takes each of “Saint and Sinner” and “Rock and Roll Hell.”

The fourth and five discs contain 26 unreleased soundboard live recordings from the Creatures ‘82/’83 Tour and seven tour sound effects, all recorded and archived by tour sound engineer Harry Witz. The sound is more than a bit rough and, in general, the live music does not do much for me. Stanley’s “rap” to open “Love Gun” is lame. While Carr’s drum solo in “God of Thunder” stretches the song to 10 minutes, Simmons’ bass solo and Stanley’s guitar solo are short. All but one of the recordings were made at either Rockford, Ill. Dec. 31, 1982, Sioux City, Iowa Dec. 30, 1982, or Houston, Texas March 10, 1983.

The Blu-ray audio disc has a first-ever Atmos and 5.1 surround mix from the original album multi-tracks, plus the high-resolution, newly remastered 1982 stereo mix of the original album.

Almost worth the price of admission itself is the 80-page hardcover book with new interviews with Simmons, Stanley, Ford and others. There are liner notes by Ken Sharp, terrific unreleased photos, handwritten lyrics, and images of rare collectibles.

Since it is a KISS box set, there are collectible bonus items, including the album’s 1982 press kit, band biography, three posters, two stage drawings, promo photos, a Creatures T-shirt iron-on transfer, a bumper sticker, replica ticket, backstage pass, four trading cards, 1982 replica tour program, four illustrated art cards, the Gotham Rock City News Vol. 2 newspaper, five glow-in-the-dark guitar picks and four buttons.

Up for auction at Gotta Have Rock And Roll is the original rough draft artwork of the 1982 KISS classic Creatures Of The Night, originally owned by guitarist Ace Frehley.
The artwork shows the band in their The Elder outfits with Paul Stanley sporting his purple headband. The minimum bid for the artwork is $4,000.

Celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, Creatures Of The Night from 1982 is a seminal album in the KISS catalog. It crushed fans’ expectations with a huge, back-to-rock sound and has become a fan favorite and cult classic.

Je sais, vous allez crier au scandale, dire qu’il y a un conflit d’intérêt, un manque d’objectivité, trouver plein d’autres arguments. Je n’y peux rien. KISS, c’est mon addiction positive ! Je ne le cache ni à l’hôpital, ni à la faculté de médecine, ni dans l’émission quotidienne "Ça Commence Aujourd’hui" avec Faustine Bollaert sur France 2. « Creatures Of The Night » a changé ma vie un soir au début des années 1980, sur Antenne 2 (France 2 maintenant) dans l’émission "Les Enfants du Rock - Spécial Hard Rock". Assis en tailleur devant la télévision chez mes parents, KISS joue "I Love It Loud". 360° sur moi-même lors de ma rencontre avec Gene Simmons et sa basse en forme de hache ! Plus jamais ça ne sera pareil pour moi, le garçon de 11 ans. Véritable madeleine de Proust, KISS nous offre un somptueux coffret pour les 40 ans de cet album où Ace Frehley ne joue plus, où Eric Carr remplace Peter Criss avec sa frappe heavy. Kiss had to get back to their hard rock roots after the disaster of their last studio album ‘Music from the Elder’. The band had been on a downward spiral since ‘Dynasty’ with their sound going softer, Peter Criss leaving the band and now Ace was pretty much done. Due to his disillusionment the last few years with the band, the fact he had no say in anything, his alcohol problem and his prescription drug problem related to a car crash, Ace was done. He was so done in fact, he does not show up anywhere on this album. Well, that isn’t entirely true. Kiss still credited him as a member of the band, his picture is on the cover and he made some public appearances in support of the band including appearing in the music video for ‘I Love it Loud” which he didn’t even play on. After that video shoot though, Ace was no longer in the band.

Kiss was basically a trio for this whole album. Additional musicians and songwriters were brought in to help them write and record this album. Michael James Jackson was brought in as the producer and Michael had worked on the four new songs used on the ‘Killers’ album early in the year. They went in to the studio with the sole purpose of bringing back the heavy rock. Paul’s writing friend, Adam Mitchell, was back to help as well as Jim Vallance, Bryan Adams and Mikel Japp. All these guys co-wrote on the ‘Killers’ album, so it stands to reason that all these songs for both ‘Killers’ and ‘Creatures’ were part of the same writing sessions.

Not only was Kiss using a lot of outside writers, they were using outside musicians as well. Especially guitarists. They had Robben Ford, Steve Farris and I’ve even heard that Rick Derringer was used. Adam Mitchell introduced the band to a guitar slinger named Vinnie Vincent. Vinnie not only played solo on several songs, he co-wrote them as well. And it wasn’t only guitar players as they brought in some bass players as well because Gene was so busy with Diana Ross and whatever movie roles he was trying to get.

When it came to drums, there was only one drummer and that was Eric Carr. Eric was finally getting to do what he has wanted to do since joining Kiss and that was record a hard and heavy rock album. “Elder” wasn’t that and Eric was really unhappy with that whole process. Michael James Jackson captured some of the best drum sounds of any Kiss album with this one. Eric’s playing was immense, powerful and the driving force to these songs. It is some of the best playing we have ever seen on any Kiss album…ever!! With this album, Eric quickly became a fan favorite.

With all these guitarists coming in and some not even being used on the album, they were basically brought in to audition for a spot in Kiss. Vinnie Vincent was the lucky slinger that was given the gig. Sorry, his real name is Vincent John Cusano but we all know him as Vinnie Vincent. Yet another example of a band member changing their name because it sounded too ethnic. Since Kiss was in make-up, they needed to come up with make-up for Vinnie and it was decided on an Egyptian Ankh symbol which was quickly designed by Paul Stanley. Vinnie looked like this…


The copy of the album I have has no inserts and I don’t think there were any. The album had the sleeve with the lyrics and my pressing was a second pressing as it has the black label on the vinyl (as seen below). My copy also had a little cut-out on the top right corner so I’m not sure if it was used as a promo or thrown in to the cheap bin. It is not pictured as my copy is still in the wrapper and caused too much of a glare for a good photo so I used pictures from Discogs. The labels below are mine. Enough chatting, let us get to the music.


The first song on the album is also the first single, “Creatures of the Night”. The song was written by Paul Stanley and Adam Mitchell and had Steve Farris on lead guitar. Steve would go on to play for the band Mr. Mister. Also on the album was Adam as additional guitars and Mike Porcaro on bass as Gene wasn’t available or something. The song starts off explosive with Eric’s drums and then some wicked, heavy guitar riffs. Paul sings with a swagger not had in years. He is sounds confident and serious and this is a much heavier and more determined Kiss.

Now that the tone is set with the first song, the Demon comes next with the sinister, “Saint and Sinner”. Written by Gene Simmons and Mikel Japp, the song also gives us our fist taste of Vinnie on lead guitar and it is obvious we have a different guitarist than the first song as the tone and style are very different. The solo is great and not a shred fest, it actually has some good melody. Two songs in and we know that Kiss is back and in full force.

“Keep Me Comin'” is another Stanley and Mitchell song with Vinnie on the lead. The song is a little over-the-top and will get you moving and actually sounds a little 80’s when the other songs don’t. Paul sounds fantastic again and he is strutting around like a peacock with those lyrics shaking his tailfeather. It is a fun song.

We get back to business with “Rock and Roll Hell” from Gene, Jim Vallance and Bryan Adams one of two contributions to the album and both with Gene. Gene on vocals and bass, Robben Ford on guitar and Eric destroying those drums. The song is dark, menacing and pure Demon. There are so many great Gene songs on the album. I love the song’s theme which is Gene is afraid of losing his place in the world and I bet by this time, they were afraid of losing everything. It lit a fire in the beast and they played like they were hungry again.

The last track on Side 1 is the fantastic song “Danger”. The third and final Stanley and Mitchell track, “Danger” is quick tempo barn stormer. Vinnie lets it fly on the guitar with some great riffs and Paul sings his all. It is a catchy chorus and the song sounds like old school Kiss with such great harmonies on the chorus as well. You have Jimmy Halsip on bass and Eric’s drumming is explosive and the overall song kicks some major ass.


Side 2 kicks off with the first song I heard from the album, “I Love it Loud”. MTV played it a lot and every time it came on it was event TV for me. I actually remember having our little black & white TV in the dining room on at dinner one night because I knew the song was coming on. When it did, I stoped eating to watch and made everyone else watch it too. Ace was in the video and I thought Kiss was chugging along just fine. Plus, I loved seeing the Giant Tank stage and Eric was slamming away on those drums. The song was written by Gene Simmons and Vinnie Vincent and it was our first glimpse in to Vinnie as a song writer and it was awesome. This was such a heavy metal track and it was the Demon rejuvenated. A massive anthem despite the simple, somewhat stupid lyrics. I love the fade out at the end to then come back again for a few more pointless seconds. Not sure the need, but as a kid, I thought it was cool.

Then we can take a breath as we get the one and only ballad on the album and one of my favorite Paul ballads, “I Still Love You”…plus I can play those opening notes on guitar!!! The slow tempo, the soft vocals and then the build up to the powerful chorus might be one of Paul’s best ever vocal performances for the band. Is that a grand enough statement for you! The guitar work was by Robben Ford and his playing was subtle, yet effective and reserved enough to let the song and Paul shine throughout. Damn good song!! Oh, and Vinnie wrote it with Paul, but didn’t play on it which is good because I think Robben’s style fit it better.

The last two songs are Gene songs and the first one is “Killer”...that is the name of the song and yes, it is killer. Another Vinnie and Gene song and Vinnie’s guitar work is obvious. Another heavy, uptempo beast that has Eric’s drums destroying everything in his way.

Then we end the album with one of Gene’s best songs, “War Machine”. One of the heaviest songs I think the band has ever done and to think it was written by Gene, Jim Vallance and Bryan Adams is surprising. Bryan Adams can rock the hell out of you…cool!! The song is so evil and menacing it would scare your enemy if you played this going in to battle. A popular song Gene plays live and for him to get in a full demon mode. Think of God of Thunder on steroids and you have an idea of this song.

The Track Score is 9 out of 9 or 100%. It don’t get much better than this!! There is not a bad song on this album. Kiss wanted to re-capture their metal and hard rock roots and they did that in spades. With a Track Score like that you would expect the overall rating to be as good and you’d be right. I would give this a 5.0 out of 5.0 Stars as it is still one of my favorite Kiss albums and over the years it stands the test of time. It sounds just as relevant today as it did back then. Despite all the musicians and writers, for us as kids, it was still Kiss. For me, Kiss was back and better than ever…
…too bad the buying public didn’t give a damn as the album only went to #45 on the Billboard Charts and only sold Gold. Kiss was still not getting any love. The tour was a failure and all was still not right in the Kiss world. Something had to give. They needed to do something to be noticed and it had to be big. And with the next album, they would do something that would bring them back to the top. What is it? We will find out next week.

Kiss a dû revenir à ses racines hard rock après le désastre de son dernier album studio « Music from the Elder ». Le groupe était dans une spirale descendante depuis "Dynasty" avec leur son devenant plus doux, Peter Criss quittant le groupe et maintenant Ace avait à peu près fini. En raison de sa désillusion des dernières années avec le groupe, du fait qu'il n'avait rien à dire, de son problème d'alcool et de son problème de médicaments sur ordonnance lié à un accident de voiture, Ace avait fini. Il a été tellement fait en fait, il n'apparaît nulle part sur cet album. Eh bien, ce n'est pas tout à fait vrai. Kiss l'a toujours crédité en tant que membre du groupe, sa photo est sur la couverture et il a fait quelques apparitions publiques pour soutenir le groupe, notamment dans le clip de "I Love it Loud" sur lequel il n'a même pas joué. Après ce tournage vidéo, Ace n'était plus dans le groupe.

Kiss était essentiellement un trio pour tout cet album. D'autres musiciens et auteurs-compositeurs ont été amenés pour les aider à écrire et à enregistrer cet album. Michael James Jackson a été nommé producteur et Michael a travaillé sur les quatre nouvelles chansons utilisées sur l'album "Killers" au début de l'année. Ils sont entrés en studio dans le seul but de ramener le rock lourd. L'ami écrivain de Paul, Adam Mitchell, était de retour pour aider ainsi que Jim Vallance, Bryan Adams et Mikel Japp. Tous ces gars ont co-écrit sur l'album "Killers", il va donc de soi que toutes ces chansons pour "Killers" et "Creatures" faisaient partie des mêmes sessions d'écriture.

Non seulement Kiss utilisait beaucoup d'écrivains extérieurs, mais ils utilisaient également des musiciens extérieurs. Surtout les guitaristes. Ils avaient Robben Ford, Steve Farris et j'ai même entendu dire que Rick Derringer avait été utilisé. Adam Mitchell a présenté le groupe à un guitariste nommé Vinnie Vincent. Vinnie a non seulement joué en solo sur plusieurs chansons, il les a également co-écrites. Et ce n'était pas seulement des guitaristes car ils ont aussi fait venir des bassistes parce que Gene était tellement occupé avec Diana Ross et tous les rôles de film qu'il essayait d'obtenir.

En ce qui concerne la batterie, il n'y avait qu'un seul batteur et c'était Eric Carr. Eric commençait enfin à faire ce qu'il voulait faire depuis qu'il avait rejoint Kiss et c'était enregistrer un album de hard rock. "Elder" n'était pas ça et Eric était vraiment mécontent de tout ce processus. Michael James Jackson a capturé certains des meilleurs sons de batterie de tous les albums de Kiss avec celui-ci. Le jeu d'Eric était immense, puissant et la force motrice de ces chansons. C'est l'un des meilleurs jeux que nous ayons jamais vus sur n'importe quel album de Kiss… jamais !! Avec cet album, Eric est rapidement devenu un favori des fans.

Avec tous ces guitaristes qui arrivaient et certains n'étaient même pas utilisés sur l'album, ils ont été essentiellement amenés à auditionner pour une place dans Kiss. Vinnie Vincent était le frondeur chanceux qui a reçu le concert. Désolé, son vrai nom est Vincent John Cusano mais nous le connaissons tous sous le nom de Vinnie Vincent. Encore un autre exemple d'un membre du groupe qui a changé de nom parce que cela sonnait trop ethnique. Puisque Kiss était maquillé, ils devaient inventer du maquillage pour Vinnie et il a été décidé d'un symbole Ankh égyptien qui a été rapidement conçu par Paul Stanley. Vinnie ressemblait à ça…

La copie de l'album que j'ai n'a pas d'inserts et je ne pense pas qu'il y en ait eu. L'album avait la pochette avec les paroles et mon pressage était un deuxième pressage car il a l'étiquette noire sur le vinyle (comme on le voit ci-dessous). Ma copie avait également une petite découpe dans le coin supérieur droit, donc je ne sais pas si elle a été utilisée comme promo ou jetée dans la poubelle bon marché. Il n'est pas illustré car ma copie est toujours dans l'emballage et a causé trop d'éblouissement pour une bonne photo, j'ai donc utilisé des images de Discogs. Les étiquettes ci-dessous sont les miennes. Assez bavardé, passons à la musique.

FACE UN :
La première chanson de l'album est aussi le premier single, "Creatures of the Night". La chanson a été écrite par Paul Stanley et Adam Mitchell et avait Steve Farris à la guitare principale. Steve continuerait à jouer pour le groupe Mr. Mister. Adam était également sur l'album en tant que guitares supplémentaires et Mike Porcaro à la basse car Gene n'était pas disponible ou quelque chose comme ça. La chanson commence de manière explosive avec la batterie d'Eric, puis quelques riffs de guitare méchants et lourds. Paul chante avec un air fanfaron qu'il n'avait pas eu depuis des années. Il a l'air confiant et sérieux et c'est un baiser beaucoup plus lourd et plus déterminé.

Maintenant que le ton est donné avec la première chanson, le démon vient ensuite avec le sinistre, "Saint and Sinner". Écrite par Gene Simmons et Mikel Japp, la chanson nous donne également notre premier aperçu de Vinnie à la guitare solo et il est évident que nous avons un guitariste différent de celui de la première chanson car le ton et le style sont très différents. Le solo est génial et pas un festival de shred, il a en fait une bonne mélodie. Deux chansons et nous savons que Kiss est de retour et en pleine force.

"Keep Me Comin'" est une autre chanson de Stanley et Mitchell avec Vinnie en tête. La chanson est un peu exagérée et vous fera bouger et sonne en fait un peu les années 80 quand les autres chansons ne le font pas. Paul a de nouveau un son fantastique et il se pavane comme un paon avec ces paroles qui secouent sa queue. C'est une chanson amusante.

Nous revenons aux affaires avec "Rock and Roll Hell" de Gene, Jim Vallance et Bryan Adams l'une des deux contributions à l'album et les deux avec Gene. Gene au chant et à la basse, Robben Ford à la guitare et Eric à la batterie. La chanson est sombre, menaçante et pure Demon. Il y a tellement de bonnes chansons de Gene sur l'album. J'adore le thème de la chanson qui est que Gene a peur de perdre sa place dans le monde et je parie qu'à cette époque, ils avaient peur de tout perdre. Cela a allumé un feu dans la bête et ils ont joué comme s'ils avaient à nouveau faim.

Le dernier morceau de la face 1 est la fantastique chanson "Danger". Le troisième et dernier morceau de Stanley et Mitchell, « Danger », est un morceau de grange au tempo rapide. Vinnie le laisse voler à la guitare avec de superbes riffs et Paul chante tout. C'est un refrain accrocheur et la chanson sonne comme de la vieille école Kiss avec de si bonnes harmonies sur le refrain également. Vous avez Jimmy Halsip à la basse et la batterie d'Eric est explosive et la chanson globale donne un coup de pied au cul.

FACE DEUX:
La face 2 démarre avec la première chanson que j'ai entendue de l'album, "I Love it Loud". MTV l'a beaucoup joué et chaque fois qu'il est passé, c'était un événement télévisé pour moi. En fait, je me souviens d'avoir allumé notre petite télé noir et blanc dans la salle à manger au dîner un soir parce que je savais que la chanson allait passer. Quand c'est arrivé, j'ai arrêté de manger pour regarder et j'ai obligé tout le monde à le regarder aussi. Ace était dans la vidéo et je pensais que Kiss se débrouillait très bien. De plus, j'ai adoré voir la scène Giant Tank et Eric claquait sur ces tambours. La chanson a été écrite par Gene Simmons et Vinnie Vincent et c'était notre premier aperçu de Vinnie en tant qu'auteur-compositeur et c'était génial. C'était un morceau de heavy metal et c'était le démon rajeuni. Un hymne massif malgré des paroles simples un peu stupides. J'adore le fondu à la fin pour ensuite revenir encore quelques secondes inutiles. Je ne suis pas sûr du besoin, mais en tant qu'enfant, je pensais que c'était cool.

Ensuite, nous pouvons reprendre notre souffle alors que nous obtenons la seule et unique ballade de l'album et l'une de mes ballades préférées de Paul, "I Still Love You"… en plus, je peux jouer ces notes d'ouverture à la guitare !!! Le tempo lent, les voix douces, puis la montée en puissance du refrain puissant pourraient être l'une des meilleures performances vocales de Paul pour le groupe. Est-ce une déclaration assez grande pour vous ! Le travail de guitare était de Robben Ford et son jeu était subtil, mais efficace et suffisamment réservé pour laisser la chanson et Paul briller tout au long. Putain bonne chanson !! Oh, et Vinnie l'a écrit avec Paul, mais n'a pas joué dessus, ce qui est bien parce que je pense que le style de Robben lui va mieux.

Les deux dernières chansons sont des chansons de Gene et la première est "Killer"... c'est le nom de la chanson et oui, c'est une tuerie. Une autre chanson de Vinnie et Gene et le travail de guitare de Vinnie est évident. Une autre bête lourde et rythmée qui a la batterie d'Eric détruisant tout sur son passage.

Ensuite, nous terminons l'album avec l'une des meilleures chansons de Gene, "War Machine". Je pense que l'une des chansons les plus lourdes que le groupe ait jamais faites et penser qu'elle a été écrite par Gene, Jim Vallance et Bryan Adams est surprenant. Bryan Adams peut vous faire vibrer… cool !! La chanson est si diabolique et menaçante qu'elle effrayerait votre ennemi si vous la jouiez au combat. Une chanson populaire que Gene joue en direct et pour lui de se mettre en mode démon complet. Pensez à God of Thunder sous stéroïdes et vous avez une idée de cette chanson.

Le score de la piste est de 9 sur 9 ou 100 %. Il n'y a pas mieux que ça !! Il n'y a pas de mauvaise chanson sur cet album. Kiss voulait retrouver leurs racines métal et hard rock et ils l'ont fait à la pelle. Avec un score de piste comme celui-là, vous vous attendriez à ce que la note globale soit aussi bonne et vous auriez raison. Je lui donnerais 5,0 étoiles sur 5,0 car c'est toujours l'un de mes albums préférés de Kiss et au fil des ans, il résiste à l'épreuve du temps. Cela semble tout aussi pertinent aujourd'hui qu'à l'époque. Malgré tous les musiciens et écrivains, pour nous en tant qu'enfants, c'était toujours Kiss. Pour moi, Kiss était de retour et meilleur que jamais…
… Dommage que le public acheteur s'en foute car l'album n'est allé qu'à la 45e place du Billboard Charts et n'a vendu que de l'or. Kiss ne recevait toujours aucun amour. La tournée a été un échec et tout n'allait toujours pas dans le monde de Kiss. Quelque chose devait donner. Ils devaient faire quelque chose pour se faire remarquer et cela devait être grand. Et avec le prochain album, ils feraient quelque chose qui les ramènerait au sommet. Qu'est-ce que c'est? Nous le saurons la semaine prochaine.

Rien à redire sur la qualité finale du produit ; c'est du béton armé !
C'est l'album désespérément attendu après les égarements des trois opus précédents (Dynasty, Unmasked et The Elder).

En revanche, le constat de ce qui se passe en coulisse est un peu différent :
1/ Gene et Paul ne sont plus capables de composer sans une aide extérieure.
2/ La cohésion du groupe est juste une image. Seul Eric joue sur tous les morceaux !
3/ En parallèle, Gene et Paul n'ont pas composé un seul titre en commun (depuis R&RO).
4/ Il a fallu pléthore de guitaristes pour venir à bout de cet album. la magouilleuse Kiss à plein régime !

Oui c'est très paradoxal. Un album sans l'unité des 4 musiciens, mais qui est vraiment très bon !

D'autant que je suis resté quelques années persuadé qu'après les départs de Peter puis d'Ace, responsables de tous les maux, Kiss était redevenu un groupe uni et que ne jouaient sur cet album qu'Eric, Gene, Paul et Vinnie

You saw the title to this and you are probably saying to yourself, “John, you’ve already reviewed ‘Creatures of the Night’. Have you lost your rocker?” And the answer to that question is YES! I have reviewed ‘Creatures’ and I am off my rocker. The thing is, the band re-released the album in 1985 for some strange reason. The new line-up of Kiss with Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Eric Carr and Bruce Kulick was riding high. The fans loved the line-up, the last album was successful, the tour went off well, so all was good in the Kiss world. Someone, somewhere in the Kiss camp thought, “Hey, we should re-release the album ‘Creatures of the Night’ because why not.” I have no idea the rational or reasoning behind this at all as it makes no sense.

If you are going to re-release it, why not put a brand new cover on the album with the band without make-up. Check! Why not stick a picture of Gene’s Ass on it in tight-fitting leather pants. Check! Here’s the thing. The picture of the band without make-up has Bruce Kulick on it and if you aren’t aware, he didn’t play on the album. I guess that isn’t a problem because the original picture on the album had Ace Frehley, and if you read my review earlier, you know he didn’t play a note on the album either. So in the end, I guess it doesn’t matter whose picture is on the cover. And here’s the other thing, it was never fun looking at the back cover because there was a giant ass staring you in the face. You felt a little grossed out looking at that….thing!!

This particular release isn’t exactly like the previous album. They did make a few changes to it. First and most noticeable is they changed the track listing a little. They swapped “Saint and Sinner” which was the #2 song on the original release with “Killer” which was at #8. Now “Killer” was #2 and “Saint and Sinner” was #8. I will be honest with you and I think that was a killer move as I do like this track list order a little better than before. So far so good.


The next thing they did was re-mix the song “Creatures of the Night”. When you listen to it, you will notice a few things. Paul’s vocals have extra reverb and an extra delay to it. The guitar sound was turned up a lot in the mix while the drums were lowered and had a higher pitch as opposed to the heavy thumping on the original. Also, the drum parts at the beginning of the song were shortened a little. Overall, no that much difference. in the song.

The rest of the album isn’t listed as Re-mixed, but I believe it has been touched up a little. The drums throughout aren’t as solid as ‘Creatures’ was. It is toned down a little. Paul’s vocals might be higher and the guitar is turned up as well just like in the track above. It sounds like they touched it all up to give it that more current 80’s Kiss sound and a sound of most music at the time. Now don’t take my word on this, my ears could be fooling me. This is only what I hear and I’m old. These changes, if there really are any, aren’t a bad thing, more of a preference of what you would like. Me, I will take the original 1982 ‘Creatures of the Night’ Release any day of the week.


And there you have it. Like I said, I’ve already reviewed these songs in detail a few weeks back, so this is a short post highlighting the re-release of the album with the new cover and the remixed song “Creatures of the Night”. Technically, no other changes were made (I only think they touched up the rest of the album).

As a bonus for the Kiss Review Series, I am going to review the very first project former members of Kiss do after they have left Kiss. We did Peter Criss’ first solo album and now it is time for Vinnie Vincent’s first album after Kiss. I will tell you this won’t work for all members of Kiss, but the majority will be covered. And actually, the next three reviews are going to be by former members of Kiss…okay, not true. One is going to be by a current member of Kiss because they are still in Kiss and haven’t had a first album after Kiss yet. So, I am picking something related to Kiss and where they first worked together. But first…Vinnie.

Vous avez vu le titre de ceci et vous vous dites probablement : « John, tu as déjà revu ‘Creatures of the Night’. Avez-vous perdu votre culbuteur ? » Et la réponse à cette question est OUI ! J'ai passé en revue "Creatures" et je suis hors de mon rocker. Le fait est que le groupe a réédité l'album en 1985 pour une raison étrange. Le nouveau line-up de Kiss avec Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Eric Carr et Bruce Kulick avait le vent en poupe. Les fans ont adoré le line-up, le dernier album a été un succès, la tournée s'est bien déroulée, donc tout allait bien dans le monde de Kiss. Quelqu'un, quelque part dans le camp Kiss, s'est dit : "Hé, on devrait rééditer l'album 'Creatures of the Night' parce que pourquoi pas." Je n'ai aucune idée du rationnel ou du raisonnement derrière cela, car cela n'a aucun sens.

Si vous comptez le rééditer, pourquoi ne pas mettre une toute nouvelle pochette sur l'album avec le groupe sans maquillage. Vérifier! Pourquoi ne pas coller une photo de Gene's Ass dessus dans un pantalon en cuir moulant. Vérifier! Voici la chose. La photo du groupe sans maquillage a Bruce Kulick dessus et si vous n'êtes pas au courant, il n'a pas joué sur l'album. Je suppose que ce n'est pas un problème car la photo originale de l'album avait Ace Frehley, et si vous avez lu ma critique plus tôt, vous savez qu'il n'a pas non plus joué de note sur l'album. Donc à la fin, je suppose que peu importe la photo qui est sur la couverture. Et voici l'autre chose, ce n'était jamais amusant de regarder la couverture arrière parce qu'il y avait un cul géant qui vous regardait en face. Vous vous êtes senti un peu dégoûté en regardant cette….chose !!

Cette version particulière n'est pas exactement comme l'album précédent. Ils y ont apporté quelques modifications. Le premier et le plus notable est qu'ils ont légèrement modifié la liste des pistes. Ils ont échangé "Saint and Sinner" qui était la chanson n ° 2 de la version originale avec "Killer" qui était au n ° 8. Maintenant, "Killer" était n°2 et "Saint and Sinner" était n°8. Je vais être honnête avec vous et je pense que c'était un coup de tueur car j'aime cet ordre de liste de pistes un peu mieux qu'avant. Jusqu'ici tout va bien.

La prochaine chose qu'ils ont faite a été de remixer la chanson "Creatures of the Night". En l'écoutant, vous remarquerez quelques petites choses. La voix de Paul a une réverbération supplémentaire et un retard supplémentaire. Le son de la guitare a été beaucoup augmenté dans le mixage tandis que la batterie était abaissée et avait une hauteur plus élevée par opposition aux coups lourds de l'original. De plus, les parties de batterie au début de la chanson ont été un peu raccourcies. Dans l'ensemble, pas tant que ça de différence. dans la chanson.

Le reste de l'album n'est pas répertorié comme re-mixé, mais je crois qu'il a été un peu retouché. La batterie n'est pas aussi solide que "Creatures" l'était. C'est un peu atténué. La voix de Paul est peut-être plus haute et la guitare est également montée comme dans la piste ci-dessus. On dirait qu'ils ont tout retouché pour lui donner ce son Kiss des années 80 plus actuel et un son de la plupart des musiques de l'époque. Ne me croyez pas sur parole, mes oreilles pourraient me tromper. Ce n'est que ce que j'entends et je suis vieux. Ces changements, s'il y en a vraiment, ne sont pas une mauvaise chose, plutôt une préférence de ce que vous aimeriez. Moi, je prendrai la sortie originale de 1982 "Creatures of the Night" n'importe quel jour de la semaine.

Et voila. Comme je l'ai dit, j'ai déjà passé en revue ces chansons en détail il y a quelques semaines, c'est donc un court article soulignant la réédition de l'album avec la nouvelle couverture et la chanson remixée "Creatures of the Night". Techniquement, aucun autre changement n'a été apporté (je pense seulement qu'ils ont retouché le reste de l'album).

En bonus pour la Kiss Review Series, je vais passer en revue le tout premier projet que font les anciens membres de Kiss après avoir quitté Kiss. Nous avons fait le premier album solo de Peter Criss et maintenant il est temps pour le premier album de Vinnie Vincent après Kiss. Je vais vous dire que cela ne fonctionnera pas pour tous les membres de Kiss, mais la majorité sera couverte. Et en fait, les trois prochaines critiques seront rédigées par d'anciens membres de Kiss… d'accord, ce n'est pas vrai. L'un sera par un membre actuel de Kiss car ils sont toujours dans Kiss et n'ont pas encore eu de premier album après Kiss. Donc, je choisis quelque chose lié à Kiss et où ils ont travaillé ensemble pour la première fois. Mais d'abord… Vinnie.

Je n'ai jamais écouté cette version... Je n'ai également jamais compris l'intérêt de remplacer la pochette avec la photo d'un guitariste qui n'a pas joué dessus par celle d'un autre guitariste qui n'a pas plus joué sur cet album ! Heureusement, avec Kiss, le ridicule ne tue jamais !

It's a long way between "Kyrie" and Kiss, a bit like the gap between mercy and mayhem, divinity and "Deuce." But the title track from 1982's Creatures of the Night does put the hottest band in the land just one degree of separation from "Kyrie" hitmakers Mr. Mister.

Steve Farris, who was Mr. Mister's lead guitarist from its formation that same year until 1988, also played the solo on "Creatures of the Night," which was the album's third single. He was part of a corps of players that Kiss worked with during the recording of the album, following Ace Frehley's departure from the band. Vinnie Vincent, who co-wrote three of Creatures' nine tracks, wound up getting the gig (though was pointedly never an "official" member of Kiss), while Farris was part of a core that also included Robben Ford on two tracks and reportedly other potentials such as Richie Sambora and Steve Hunter.

Farris told the Tone-Talk podcast that he was approached by "some guy" in Los Angeles who asked if he'd be interested in auditioning for Kiss. The guitarist dropped off a tape at the band's management office in Hollywood to touch base with a "completely uninterested" assistant, thinking that nothing would happen. Two weeks later he received a call from Paul Stanley asking for a formal audition at the Record Plant studio, where he had to wait in the hall for three hours while Bob Kulick went through his audition in the facility's Studio D.

Finally, in the room, Farris was shown the song that would house "maybe the most famous solo I've ever played ... that's the second take of my audition." Stanley and Gene Simmons were pleased; so, apparently was another famous guitar player, according to Stanley in his memoir Face the Music: A Life Exposed. "Eddie Van Halen came to the studio knowing we were looking for a guitar layer," Stanley wrote. "He listened to some of the stuff we had, including a solo on the title track by Steve Farris. 'Wow, why don't you get that guy?' asked Eddie. He was blown away."

Farris, who was also working with Eddie Money as well as in the nascent Mr. Mister, seemed to be given serious consideration. He told Tone-Talk that "they said, 'Will you dye your hair black?' 'Sure.' Can you wear high heels?' 'I'll give it a try.' ... For a couple weeks I thought I might be the new guitar player." Not being a singer worked against Farris, although he noted that he has "the dubious distinction of having played 'Honky Tonk Women' with Kiss, [with] me singing lead vocal. ... I didn't hear from them again for two weeks, and then I do get a call from Paul, 'You know, we don't think you're the right guy for the band but we want to hire you to do sessions." In his book, Stanley simply maintained that "we had rehearsed with Farris, but the fit hadn't been right."

"Creatures of the Night," the song, was one of three Stanley co-wrote for the album with Adam Mitchell, a Scottish native who'd been in a band called the Paupers and had also written for Olivia Newton-John, Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard and others before he came into the Kiss universe. He was recommended by Creatures producer Michael James Jackson and went on to co-write songs on the band's 1987 album, Crazy Nights, and 1989's Hot in the Shade.

"Adam was just a terrific songwriter," Stanley told uDiscoverMusic in 2022. "I'm not one of those people who believes that as a writer, you stay in your lane. If you're a good writer, you can write anything. Adam and I got together and knocked out a bunch of really good songs. I've always believed that there had to be a signature song for each album. Most of the time, it was a song that I would come up with. 'Love Gun,' for example, 'Detroit Rock City.' We needed a song that encapsulated and kind of gave a preview as to what the whole album was, both in terms of attitude and sonics. Adam and I wrote 'Creatures' quickly. From 'Creatures' we did 'Danger,' and we just had a ball writing."

"Creatures of the Night" was initially the B-side for Creatures of the Night's lead single, "I Love It Loud," before it was released as an A-side six months later. It was the final single from the album as well as Kiss' last single in makeup for two decades.

Heck, Eric Carr was telling them that all the time…and he was right. To celebrate this pivotal album, Kiss delivered the 40th Anniversary Super Deluxe Edition Box Set and it is jammed pack with goodness. Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley have been paying attention to other band’s box sets and now they know how to put one of these together. If you thought the Destroyer 45th Anniversary Box Set was stellar, then this one will make you even happier.

It is jammed pack with 5 discs of music. A remastered edition of the main album; 2 CDs of demos, rarities, outtakes and remixes as well as 2 Live CDs chock full of goodness from various shows in 1982. And you also get a Blu-Ray Audio of the main album and I can’t wait to turn this baby on in surround sound and hear those drums surround the room. But that is not all, not by a long shot. The box set is packed with an 80-page book, posters, stickers, patches, photo cards, buttons, picks and all sorts of information about the band…don’t believe, look at the sticker from the front of the box set…

1982 est une année charnière pour Kiss. Après le désastre de leur dernier album, "Music from the Elder", Kiss était dans une situation de faire ou de mourir. Ils avaient besoin de revenir à leurs racines hard rock et de montrer au monde que Kiss était toujours Kiss. Le producteur Michael James Jackson a été engagé pour produire l'album et Kiss nouveau dont ils avaient besoin pour faire du rock. Zut, Eric Carr leur disait ça tout le temps… et il avait raison. Pour célébrer cet album pivot, Kiss a livré le coffret 40th Anniversary Super Deluxe Edition et il est bourré de bonté. Gene Simmons et Paul Stanley ont prêté attention aux coffrets des autres groupes et maintenant ils savent comment en assembler un. Si vous pensiez que le coffret du 45e anniversaire du Destroyer était stellaire, celui-ci vous rendra encore plus heureux.

Il s'agit d'un pack bourré de 5 disques de musique. Une édition remasterisée de l'album principal; 2 CD de démos, de raretés, d'extraits et de remixes ainsi que 2 CD live pleins de bonté de divers spectacles en 1982. Et vous obtenez également un Blu-Ray Audio de l'album principal et j'ai hâte d'allumer ce bébé en son surround et entendre ces tambours entourer la pièce. Mais ce n'est pas tout, loin de là. Le coffret contient un livre de 80 pages, des affiches, des autocollants, des patchs, des cartes photo, des boutons, des médiators et toutes sortes d'informations sur le groupe... ne croyez pas, regardez l'autocollant sur le devant du coffret...

First up is the remastered original album. And let me tell you it sounds fantastic. The drums are just as powerful as before and cranked it rocks out like never before. I will not go in to detail with this album as I have reviewed it before as you can click on the links below to see the full Kiss Review Series below. This is one of my favorite albums and favorite Kiss albums and I will say after listening to this remastering, it still is one of my favorite albums of all time!! I do love it loud too!!


This is where the sweetest stuff lies in this box set. The unreleased material. Disc Two kicks off with the four songs that were recorded more as a test run for Michael James Jackson and they showed up on The Killers release and are all stellar songs. We get a bunch of demos that were recorded at Penny Lane Studios. One was later finished and released on Asylum as “Love’s A Deadly Weapon” and one called “Feel Like Heaven” was released on a Peter Criss Solo album. The other ended up on Killers as “Nowhere to Run”. We get a couple instrumental, backing track pieces and two I hadn’t heard with “Tell It To a Fool” and “Chrome Goes Into Motion”. The last two tracks are Gene Simmons demos and they were actually released on The Vault which if you are a Vault owner, that pisses you off a bit as we were under the impression those songs wouldn’t be released anywhere else.

Disc Three has a couple more songs from The Vault with “Legends Never Die” that Wendy O. Williams covered and the classic Kiss demo of “It’s My Life” which Wendy also covered. But the biggest and best song on here is the demo for the song “Not for the Innocent”. That song wound up on the album ‘Lick it Up’ in a final form, but this version is something Kiss should’ve been doing more of. It was a duet version with both Gene and Paul and it is simply Fucking Awesome!! This alone was worth the price of admission for me. A huge missed opportunity for the band!! Another cool outtake is for the song “Betrayed” which is another famous unreleased track from the band. The rest of the disc has various outtakes of songs from the album and they are a lot of fun to explore. The last song is the only song on the album from the 1985 Remix of Creatures and honestly, they should’ve included the whole album as another disc in my opinion. That would’ve been cool.

Tout d'abord, l'album original remasterisé. Et laissez-moi vous dire que cela semble fantastique. Les tambours sont tout aussi puissants qu'auparavant et à fond, ça déchire comme jamais auparavant. Je n'entrerai pas dans les détails de cet album car je l'ai déjà examiné, car vous pouvez cliquer sur les liens ci-dessous pour voir la série complète de critiques de Kiss ci-dessous. C'est l'un de mes albums préférés et des albums préférés de Kiss et je dirai après avoir écouté cette remasterisation, c'est toujours l'un de mes albums préférés de tous les temps !! moi aussi je l'aime fort !!
C'est là que se trouvent les choses les plus douces dans ce coffret. Le matériel inédit. Le disque deux démarre avec les quatre chansons qui ont été enregistrées davantage comme un test pour Michael James Jackson et elles sont apparues sur la sortie de The Killers et sont toutes des chansons stellaires. Nous recevons un tas de démos qui ont été enregistrées aux Penny Lane Studios. L'un a ensuite été terminé et publié sur Asylum sous le nom de "Love's A Deadly Weapon" et l'autre intitulé "Feel Like Heaven" est sorti sur un album de Peter Criss Solo. Williams a repris et la démo classique de Kiss de "It's My Life" que Wendy a également reprise. Mais la plus grande et la meilleure chanson ici est la démo de la chanson "Not for the Innocent". Cette chanson s'est retrouvée sur l'album "Lick it Up" sous une forme finale, mais cette version est quelque chose que Kiss aurait dû faire davantage. C'était une version en duo avec Gene et Paul et c'est tout simplement génial !! Cela seul valait le prix d'admission pour moi. Une énorme occasion manquée pour le groupe !! Une autre sortie intéressante est pour la chanson "Betrayed" qui est un autre célèbre morceau inédit du groupe. Le reste du disque contient diverses extraits de chansons de l'album et ils sont très amusants à explorer. La dernière chanson est la seule chanson de l'album du Remix of Creatures de 1985 et honnêtement, ils auraient dû inclure l'album entier comme un autre disque à mon avis. Ça aurait été cool.

Disc four and five are also fantastic. It is a collection of live songs from the Creatures Tour in 1982-1983 fro shows in Rockford, Illinois; Sioux City, Iowa; and Houston, Texas. It would’ve been even cooler if they include the full versions of all three shows, but we will take what we can get. There are 7 live songs on here that are tracks from the album and it is too bad we couldn’t get the two missing track in a live version. They did piece the songs together to make it feel like a full live show and the sound is actually amazing. Way better than the live show on the Destroyer box set. My favorite part might be Paul’s banter between songs. He seemed to be angry at times and his language was pretty crude and NC-17 at times which he did get tamer as the years went on. I found it hilarious and cool at times listening back to how he played with the crowd. He is a master at it.

After “Rock And Roll All Nite”, we got some more bonus live songs, a couple repeats of songs but from a different city of course. I think the coolest thing on there might be the fact they added the backing tracks from all the sound effects used on tour that year. You get the Tank, the Turbine, the Firehouse siren, the drums and ending tank sounds, the bass solo wind and gargoyle sounds as well as bells and flame sounds. It was a pretty unique idea and I like it. All-in-all, a great set of live songs that I’ll listen to over and over!!


The Blu-Ray Audio disc is the album remastered in surround sound as well as Dolby Atmos. I did get Surround Sound for Christmas and so I put this in and I will be honest, I wasn’t impressed with the surround sound effect of the album. Don’t get me wrong, it sounded great, the drums were huge, but it didn’t feel as immersive as other 5.1 mixes that I have. I was a little disappointed. I thought the Destroyer album’s 5.1 was so much better.

Now it is time to go through the rest of the collection and will start with the book…

Les disques quatre et cinq sont également fantastiques. Il s'agit d'une collection de chansons live du Creatures Tour en 1982-1983 pour des spectacles à Rockford, Illinois ; Sioux City, Iowa; et Houston, Texas. Cela aurait été encore plus cool s'ils incluaient les versions complètes des trois émissions, mais nous prendrons ce que nous pouvons obtenir. Ma partie préférée pourrait être les plaisanteries de Paul entre les chansons. Il semblait parfois en colère et son langage était assez grossier et NC-17 parfois, ce qu'il a appris à apprivoiser au fil des années. Je l'ai trouvé hilarant et cool parfois en écoutant comment il jouait avec la foule. Il est un maître dans ce domaine.

Après "Rock And Roll All Nite", nous avons eu quelques chansons live supplémentaires, quelques répétitions de chansons mais d'une ville différente bien sûr. Je pense que la chose la plus cool là-dedans pourrait être le fait qu'ils ont ajouté les pistes d'accompagnement de tous les effets sonores utilisés en tournée cette année-là. Vous obtenez le réservoir, la turbine, la sirène de la caserne de pompiers, les sons de batterie et de réservoir de fin, les sons de vent et de gargouille solo de basse ainsi que les sons de cloches et de flammes. C'était une idée assez originale et j'aime ça. Dans l'ensemble, un excellent ensemble de chansons live que j'écouterai encore et encore !!
Le disque Blu-Ray Audio est l'album remasterisé en son surround ainsi qu'en Dolby Atmos. J'ai reçu le son surround pour Noël et je l'ai donc ajouté et je vais être honnête, je n'ai pas été impressionné par l'effet de son surround de l'album. Ne vous méprenez pas, ça sonnait bien, la batterie était énorme, mais ça ne semblait pas aussi immersif que les autres mixages 5.1 que j'ai. J'étais un peu déçu. Je pensais que le 5.1 de l'album Destroyer était tellement meilleur.

Il est maintenant temps de parcourir le reste de la collection et de commencer par le livre…
