Former KISS guitarist Ace Frehley is getting ready to share some new music. In an interview with Nuvo, Frehley reveals that he’ll be releasing a new solo record next year.

“It’s probably the best record I’ve ever done,” he says. “I’m very excited about it.”
The album is expected to come out in February, with the title track “10,000 Volts” being released in November.

“I’m really excited to see the response I’m gonna get because I really think it’s, it’s gonna be positive, and people are gonna be very, very surprised because I think it’s one of my best records,” he shares.
Frehley’s former band is getting ready to say goodbye to the road in December, and while fans would probably love to see him join them onstage for their final shows at Madison Square Garden, that’s not going to happen. Frehley says he offered to play on the tour, and heard that both Gene Simmons and KISS manager Doc McGhee wanted him — but Paul Stanley nixed it.

“It’s pretty obvious he’s an egomaniac and wants all the spotlight. If [I] returned to the band, I’d get all the press,” Frehley says, adding that he’s surprised Stanley keeps saying negative things about him and former KISS drummer Peter Criss in the press.

“He just made a statement that if we played with them at Madison Square Garden, it would mar the performance. He’s basically shooting himself in the foot and making an a****** out of himself,” Frehley says. “When people hear those statements, they’re just gonna realize that he doesn’t know what the hell he’s talking about and is probably just jealous.”

The former KISS guitarist said his ex-bandmates "tried to destroy my credibility"

Original KISS guitarist Ace Frehley has claimed that his new solo album will make frontman Paul Stanley “look like an imbecile”.

Drama between Frehley and his former bandmate started earlier this year, after the KISS singer explained why the band didn’t perform when they were inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame back in 2014.

Among reasons was the “demanding” nature of the Rock Hall, which wanted KISS to take to the stage with its original members – Frehley and Peter Criss – which Stanley said would be “demeaning” to the band, adding: “‘Cause if you saw people onstage who looked like KISS but sounded like that, maybe we should be called PISS.”

Frehley subsequently threatened to release “dirt” on KISS if Stanley didn’t apologise, later sharing that he didn’t apologise, but called to say “fuck you”.

In a new interview, Frehley has now offered an update on his latest album, while also launching a fresh retaliation against Frehley.

“I think it may be the best album I’ve ever done to date,” he said during an interview with Indiana rock radio station 93.5 FM MAX (via Blabbermouth).

Asked if he every imagined his his solo career would have this kind of longevity, he said: “It was hard in the beginning, but now I’ve picked up a lot of steam. In fact, I remember when I first signed with eOne Music — now they sold the record company to MNRK Music Group, and I’m still working with the same people — but I remember the guy that got me signed to the label, he told me that, before [2009’s] ‘Anomaly’ came out, he said a lot of people said to him, ‘You’re not even gonna get the record.’

“Because Paul and Gene [Simmons] have pretty much tried to destroy my credibility by calling me a drunk and a drug addict and somebody who’s not dependable. But if that were the case, how did I make five albums? And I’ve been touring steadily for the last 10 years plus. It doesn’t make any sense.

The artist claimed that Stanley and Simmons “contradict themselves all the time”, adding: “Now they’re putting me down and saying if I came up and played with them on the farewell tour, it would mar their performance. Paul said on The Howard Stern Show, you might as well call the band PISS instead of KISS if I got up on stage with them. Well, when this album comes about, it’s gonna make him look like an imbecile.”

KISS’ current line-up consists of Stanley, Simmons, guitarist Tommy Thayer, and drummer Eric Singer. Frehley played with the group from its inception in 1973 until his departure in 1982 and embarked on a solo career. He also rejoined KISS in 1996 for their reunion tour.

Elsewhere in his radio interview, artist said his album is nearly done, adding: “I think it may be the best album I’ve ever done to date.”

Nuvo: What question do you wish that people would ask you?

Ace Frehley: "In reality, right now, we should be talking about my new album, which, actually, is being mastered as we speak. It is gonna be delivered to the record company on Monday. It's probably the best record I've ever done. I'm very excited about it. It's the first time I ended up writing most of these songs with a good friend of mine, Steve Brown. He used to play in Trixter and has a group called Rubix Kube. Anyway, we live 40 minutes from each other, and my fiance Lara hooked us up. I'd met him several times over the years, but just briefly, but she knew him when she was in her twenties, and she said you gotta get together with Steve. He's a great songwriter and guitar player. He sent me a song, and there was one line that just jumped out from his chorus, and it was "Walking On The Moon." So I said listen, let's get together and rewrite this song, and the hook will be "Walking On The Moon" because it wasn't the end of the chorus he had prepared. So, we rewrote the song, and it came out great. We were actually gonna call the album Walking On The Moon until we recorded a song called '10,000 Volts', which came out amazing. I got Anton Fig, my old drummer, who played on my original '78 solo album and most of my solo stuff, to play drums on that. So, working with Steve has made a huge difference in my playing and writing because when he and I put our heads together, it just clicks. If I'm at a loss for a cord or a verse or a line, he comes up with it and vice versa, and within three or four hours, we write a song.

"So that's how the record's been going, you know. Then, once you record the basic track, you gotta do the overdubs and double and triple the vocals, harmonies, and stuff. He's an excellent engineer. So I didn't have to pay an engineer to engineer this record. So I saved money on that, working with Steve as well, which is nice.

Nuvo: Did recording your Origins 1 & 2 records inspire you on this new record?

Frehley: "It's one thing doing an origins record because you don't have to write the songs. Basically, I was picking songs that influenced me that were written by other people. So it's a lot easier to do than when you do a regular studio record where all the songs are original. On this record, all the songs are original except for one. I did one cover of a song called 'Life of a Stranger', written by a gal named Nadia. When she did the song, it was Euro-pop, and it was very sparsely recorded. I listened to it and loved the melody, and I loved the lyrics. I played it for Steve, and he said, you know, we could kill this song, you know, with heavy drums and power chords and stuff and keyboards even. It came out great. All the other songs did as well. There's really not a weak song on the record. Most people do a record, and they concentrate on three or four songs that they think might be singles, and then the rest of it is a lot of filler. But every song on this album I can hear on the radio. I hope DJs agree with me."

Nuvo: Are we gonna hear any new stuff when you come to play?

Frehley: "No, the album will be released in February 2024. Later in November, we're releasing the title track, which is '10,000 Volts', and once that's released, I can include it in the set. I'll be doing that once it comes out, and then there'll be a second single and a third single, and then the album comes out in February. I'm really excited to see the response I'm gonna get because I really think it's, it's gonna be positive, and people are gonna be very, very surprised because I think it's one of my best records."

Sur ce disque, toutes les chansons sont originales sauf une. J'ai fait une reprise d'une chanson intitulée "Life of a Stranger", écrite par une fille nommée Nadia. Former Kiss guitarist Ace Frehley has reflected upon the band’s infamous 1978 TV movie Kiss Meets the Phantom of the Park, noting he was “loaded” on drugs and alcohol while it was filmed.
Phantom of the Park holds a unique place in Kiss lore. Made on a budget of $3 million, the TV film was torn apart by critics and fans when it first aired. Yet in the decades since, it has developed a passionate cult following thanks largely to its cheesiness.
“I never really had any negative feelings about the film,” Frehley explained during a recent interview with Yahoo Music. “I thought it was funny. I laughed at some of the scenes, I cringed at some of the scenes, but I was intelligent and smart enough to realize that it was what it was. It was just a silly rock ’n’ roll movie that was designed for Kiss fans.”

'I Didn't Even Know What Was Going On'

Though Frehley speaks fondly about Phantom of the Park, some of his memories are muddled due to his serious substance abuse while the film was being made.

“I was loaded through half of the movie, so I didn’t even know what was going on half the time, but luckily I had cue cards and yeah, I was pretty good at hiding it,” the rocker recalled, adding that he “didn’t drink too much when I knew I had an important scene.”
It wasn’t just alcohol that Frehley was under the influence of.
“One of the guys on the set was a cocaine dealer. I’m not going to mention any names, but he used to keep cocaine in his hat and come to my trailer,” the guitarist detailed. “So, if I had drank too much, back in those days, I’d do a little cocaine. I’m not going to lie, because I’ve been sober [17] years; we’re only as sick as our secrets. So, back in those days, yeah, I’d do a little coke if I drank too much, which would give me a little pick-me-up, and then I’d be ready for the scene.”

Frehley also pointed out that another of his bandmates, drummer Peter Criss, was in a similar state.
“I gotta be honest with you: Peter at the time was as loaded as me, if not more, and he may not even have known for a while,” Frehley remarked.

Decades later, the guitarist keeps a sense of humor when he looks back on Phantom of the Park – a perspective he maintains when thinking about his entire career with Kiss.

“How serious can you take Kiss? I never took Kiss seriously,” Frehley explained. “The whole roller coaster ride of Kiss to me was just like this jolly, crazy ride where I’m wearing makeup, and dressed up as a superhero, and playing guitar, and having fun, and meeting beautiful women along the way. I just never took the thing that seriously, even though we were one of the biggest groups in the world. And I still look back on it today and I go, ‘Wow, that was weird.’”

Je ne citerai aucun nom, mais il gardait de la cocaïne dans son chapeau et venait dans ma caravane », a détaillé le guitariste. « Alors, si j’avais trop bu, à l’époque, je prendrais un peu de cocaïne. Je ne vais pas mentir, parce que je suis sobre depuis [17] ans ; nous sommes aussi malades que nos secrets. Donc, à l’époque, oui, je prenais un peu de coca si je buvais trop, ce qui me donnait un petit remontant, et ensuite je serais prêt pour la scène.

Frehley a également souligné qu'un autre de ses camarades du groupe, le batteur Peter Criss, était dans un état similaire.
"Je dois être honnête avec vous : Peter à l'époque était aussi chargé que moi, sinon plus, et il ne le savait peut-être même pas depuis un moment", a fait remarquer Frehley.

Des décennies plus tard, le guitariste garde un certain sens de l’humour lorsqu’il revient sur Phantom of the Park – une perspective qu’il maintient lorsqu’il pense à l’ensemble de sa carrière avec Kiss.

« À quel point peux-tu prendre Kiss au sérieux ? Paul Gilbert expressed his admiration for the classic KISS guitarist Ace Frehley, comparing his idol to a Les Paul-touting, makeup-wearing Johann Sebastian Bach.

Despite the relative lack of appreciation coming from their colleagues back in the day, it is undeniable that seriously competent musicians laid the foundation of what would become one of NYC's biggest rock bands. In the constellation of KISS, Ace Frehley's classic work is always highlighted for its efficiency and casual confidence, with guitar heroes ranging from Eddie Van Halen to Pantera's Dimebag Darrell openly appreciating the man for his craft.

Although Ace himself openly admitted there were other players who could "run circles" around him, Guitar World notes, Paul Gilbert tells the magazine how The Spaceman is still an industry icon he idolizes.

In particular, KISS' monumental live albums "Alive" (1975) and "Alive II" (1977) occupy a special place in Gilbert's heart, and speaking of the latter, he said:

"[On that album] Ace Frehley has infallible feedback magic! The intro feedback note of 'King of the Nighttime World' quickly transforms into its high harmonic, and Ace sustains it at full force with soulful, dramatic, and perfectly controlled vibrato."

"Then Ace's unaccompanied solo at the end of 'Shock Me' has more of this beautiful guitar feedback and vibrato. I love it!"

Praising the "perfect" composition of Ace's solos, Gilbert concluded:

"Ace's solos on the first two KISS live albums are so perfectly composed. They remind me of what Bach would do if he had a Les Paul, a Marshall, and a space alien costume."

Speaking of historical underappreciation of KISS' musicianship, Paul Stanley recently noted how some esteemed players were actually surprised to find out how competent the four were as musicians:

"It's interesting. I've had some well-known guitarists at my house, and inevitably, we'd start playing, and I remember a couple of them on different occasions saying, 'Hey, wow, you can really play!' They were surprised, which maybe made sense early in KISS' career, because back then, it was easy to be dazzled by what we do live and have my ability be overshadowed.

"But at this point, you'd have to be shortsighted and perhaps more than a little hard of hearing not to get what's going on. So, if you don't get it, then you've probably never seen KISS."

MARION, Ill. -- The legendary KISS guitarist Ace Frehley is coming to Marion.

The Marion Cultural and Civic Center made the announcement on Friday and said Skyline Creek Productions will be bringing Frehley to the southern Illinois area in June of next year.

Frehley was the original lead guitarist and occasionally the lead vocalist for KISS. He was also the co-founding member for KISS as well.

KISS is famous for both its music and theatrics. Each band member has a different persona based on their face paint.

Frehley adopted ‘The Spaceman’ persona after painting big silver stars over his eyes.

Frehley was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014 as a member of the band.

Tickets will be on sale starting on November 21 at 10 a.m. at the Marion Cultural and Civic Center.

The performance date will be on Friday, June 28, 2024.

Original KISS guitarist Ace Frehley will release "10,000 Volts", the title track of his recently completed new album, on Tuesday, November 28. The LP is tentatively due in February 2024 via MNRK Music Group (formerly eOne Music).

Earlier today (Wednesday, November 22),Frehley took to his social media to write: "I've been in the studio working hard on my upcoming album. I can't wait to share the first song '10,000 Volts' - so be sure to tune in on Tuesday, November 28. #acefrehley #10Kvolts #newmusic".

Last month, Frehley told Jeff Napier of Nuvo about "10,000 Volts": "It's probably the best record I've ever done. I'm very excited about it. It's the first time I ended up writing most of these songs with a good friend of mine, Steve Brown. He used to play in TRIXTER and has a group called RUBIX KUBE. Anyway, we live 40 minutes from each other, and my fiancée Lara hooked us up. I'd met him several times over the years, but just briefly, but she knew him when she was in her twenties, and she said, 'You've gotta get together with Steve.' He's a great songwriter and guitar player. He sent me a song, and there was one line that just jumped out from his chorus, and it was 'Walking On The Moon'. So I said, 'Listen, let's get together and rewrite this song, and the hook will be 'Walking On The Moon',' because it wasn't the end of the chorus he had prepared. So, we rewrote the song, and it came out great. We were actually gonna call the album 'Walking On The Moon' until we recorded a song called '10,000 Volts', which came out amazing. I got Anton Fig, my old drummer, who played on my original '78 solo album and most of my solo stuff, to play drums on that. So, working with Steve has made a huge difference in my playing and writing because when he and I put our heads together, it just clicks. If I'm at a loss for a chord or a verse or a line, he comes up with it and vice versa, and within three or four hours, we write a song.

"So that's how the record's been going," Ace added. "Then, once you record the basic track, you gotta do the overdubs and double and triple the vocals, harmonies, and stuff. He's an excellent engineer. So I didn't have to pay an engineer to engineer this record. So I saved money on that, working with Steve as well, which is nice."

Asked if making "Origins Vol. 2", the sequel to his 2016 collection of cover songs that inspired the former KISS guitarist, affected the way he put together the new record, Frehley said: "It's one thing doing an 'Origins' record because you don't have to write the songs. Basically, I was picking songs that influenced me that were written by other people. So it's a lot easier to do than when you do a regular studio record where all the songs are original. On this record, all the songs are original except for one. I did one cover of a song called 'Life Of A Stranger', written by a gal named Nadia. When she did the song, it was Europop, and it was very sparsely recorded. I listened to it and loved the melody, and I loved the lyrics. I played it for Steve, and he said, 'We could kill this song with heavy drums and power chords and stuff and keyboards even.' It came out great. All the other songs did as well. There's really not a weak song on the record. Most people do a record, and they concentrate on three or four songs that they think might be singles, and then the rest of it is a lot of filler. But every song on this album I can hear on the radio. I hope DJs agree with me."

Frehley previously spoke about the recording process for his new album this past March during an appearance on SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk". At the time, the 72-year-old rocker marveled at the amount of material he was able to complete, saying: "Within six days I had written and recorded five new songs, which is unprecedented for me."

Ace went on to say that he had also been working on his new LP with Peppy Castro of the BLUES MAGOOS. He added: "Back in the '60s, [the BLUES MAGOOS] had the big hit '(We Ain't Got) Nothin' Yet'. I grew up with him in the Bronx. He inspired me to become a rock star. I remember going to Orchard Beach in the Bronx, and all of a sudden I hear Peppy's song on the radio. I go, 'Jesus Christ. If he can do that, I can do it. I'm better looking than him.' [Laughs] He actually taught me how to play bar chord in the basement of an apartment building… But we've been friends ever since, and we've followed each other's career. And he's been in my studio a half dozen times. And he also hooked me up with Tommy Denander. He wrote three songs for me that I'm probably gonna rearrange at least one or two of them and add vocals. But me and Steve have been doing a song a day. It's insanity."

Peppy previously collaborated with KISS bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons as a songwriter and performed on Frehley's and Stanley's solo records.

Ace's next all-original album will be the follow-up to "Spaceman", which was released in October 2018 via eOne.

"Origins Vol. 2" featured cover versions of THE BEATLES' "I'm Down", DEEP PURPLE's "Space Truckin'", LED ZEPPELIN's "Good Times Bad Times", THE ROLLING STONES' "Jumpin' Jack Flash", THE KINKS' "Lola" and THE JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCE's "Manic Depression", among others. A cover of the 1975 KISS tune "She" also appeared as a bonus track. Guests on the set included CHEAP TRICK's Robin Zander, Lita Ford and former KISS guitarist Bruce Kulick.

Simmons co-wrote two tracks on "Spaceman", "Without You I'm Nothing" and "Your Wish Is My Command", the latter of which also features Gene's bass playing

In a new interview with Mark Strigl of SiriusXM's Ozzy's Boneyard, original KISS guitarist Ace Frehley was asked if there is any chance that he will make an appearance at the band's last concert ever, which is scheduled to take place this Saturday, December 2 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. He responded (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "No. You know what it is? Those guys use my name and Peter's [Criss, original KISS drummer] name months ago. They said that they invited us to perform at that show. I never got a phone call. Peter never got a phone call. They just said that to sell tickets. And recently, [KISS guitarist/vocalist] Paul Stanley has made negative statements about me and Peter. For example, I think the last negative statement he said, when people asked him, 'Is Peter and Ace gonna perform at the Garden?' he said, oh, we would mar the show if we got up and play — which is really insulting."

He continued: "I've been touring without KISS for years. I mean, KISS hasn't put out an album in what, nine years; I've put out five or six. And [my upcoming] album ['10,000 Volts'] I think is gonna really turn heads. I know Gene's [Simmons, KISS bassist/vocalist[] gonna really like it and tell the press he does like it. I have no idea what Paul Stanley's gonna say. He usually holds back on any deep praise for me because he's jealous of me."

Despite all the badmouthing that has gone on between him and some of the other original KISS members in recent years, Frehley insists that he doesn't hold a grudge against them.

"I wish KISS the best, all the best on their final shows for the 'End Of The Road' tour," he said. "There's really no hard feelings. We say things sometimes in the heat of passion or sometimes our memory isn't… [we don't] recall things. But I love those guys. We're all getting old, our memory isn't what it used to be, so I just let it roll off my back."

Earlier this month, Simmons lamented the absence of Frehley and Criss at KISS's final shows, telling 519 Magazine: "I feel sad. I feel sad and angry that both Ace and Peter aren't here. I mean, they're alive, but they're not here to enjoy this unbelievable journey with us. They were there at the beginning and deserve all the credit. And when they look in the mirror, the only reason they're not here with us is themselves.

"Inviting them was as much for the fans as it was for us. KISS has always been about the whole, not the individual. It would've been fitting to have all of us there, one last time."

This past June, Gene was asked by Barbara Caserta of Linea Rock about the possibility of Ace and Peter making guest appearances at the band's last-ever concerts in early December at Madison Square Garden in New York City. He responded: "For the fans — the older, older fans — the ones who've been around for 50 years, they're old, and some of them wanna see Ace and Peter. The newer fans never saw them and they don't know. But the older fans wonder about Ace and Peter. Well, I asked both Ace and Peter a few times: 'Do you wanna come out for the encores? Do you wanna do some shows?' And they both said 'no.' So, I don't know what to say about that… But it's always welcome. But there are many other big stars, superstars, who wanna jump up onstage and play a song. But we're not sure about that. Maybe the best thing to do is to end the way we started: four guys with guitars. No keyboards, no synthesizers — nothing. Just playing."

Seven months ago, Frehley told SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk" that he was still open to playing with KISS at the band's final shows in New York City. "Money motivates me, just like it motivates them, but I don't put money before God," he explained. "If I got a quarter of a million dollars a night, and I can make half a million dollars for playing three or four songs, five songs, I'd take the money. [I'd] buy a Ferrari… buy a Maserati. [Laughs] I don't really wanna play with those guys ever again after what they've done, but money can change my mind."

Frehley continued: "Look, I'm a capitalist. I grew up in America. But I'd never put money before people's feelings. I like money as much as the next guy does, but money isn't my God, like it is theirs. They're all atheists. Whatever they can do or say, whether it's true or false, as long as it makes them the most amount of money, they're gonna do [it]."

Ace also addressed the issue of whether he would perform with KISS at the band's final concerts while wearing his trademark "Spaceman" makeup — the same makeup his replacement Tommy Thayer has been sporting for more than two decades. "Sure. For a quarter of a million dollars," he said, explaining that "I'm a good-looking guy. I don't need the makeup."

When Trunk pressed Ace about what he thinks the odds are of him playing with KISS at the final concerts in New York, Frehley said: "It all depends on money. If I get a formal invitation with a check, I'll be there. But they've gotta have deep pockets… If they don't wanna pay me, I won't be there, ladies and gentleman."

Ace also once again confirmed that he had never received a formal invitation to join his former bandmates at their last-ever shows. "Absolutely not," he said. "From what I understand, the shows are sold out. The only reason they sold out is they made innuendos that me and Peter were gonna be there, [that] they invited us. I wasn't invited. They lie all the time. Haven't they said, 'We're inviting Ace and Peter to come up and play?' Or at least me? Multiple times. So, people bought the tickets. But I haven't been given a formal invitation or given an offer monetarily. And I'm probably not gonna get one now after this interview. And guess what: I don't give a shit."

Despite everything that has been said between all the parties, Ace claimed that he still looks back fondly on his time with KISS and he doesn't hate his former bandmates.

"Look, the bottom line is this: deep down in my heart, I love those guys, because we created something so special that it will be remembered for years," he said. "When we're all dead and buried, there will still be people listening to KISS music. And I'm overjoyed. But I want my legacy to be cleared of any of this bullshit and lies."

KISS launched its farewell trek in January 2019 but was forced to put it on hold in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"End Of The Road" was originally scheduled to conclude on July 17, 2021 in New York City but has since been extended to late 2023. The trek was announced in September 2018 following a KISS performance of the band's classic song "Detroit Rock City" on "America's Got Talent".

In a June 2022 interview with Finland's Chaoszine, Simmons was asked if Frehley and Peter would have any involvement in KISS's final concerts. He responded: "We've tried. I keep trying. Paul and I met with Ace, trying to convince him to come back. He said, 'I want this. I want that.' Well, we can't do that. I asked Ace and Peter to be in the documentary ['Biography: KISStory', which premiered on A&E in June 2021]. They said no. They might do it if they have complete control of the edit. I said, 'We can't do that, because even we don't have that. But I won't control what you say; you can say whatever you want.' The answer is no — both of them. I asked Ace and Peter, 'Come out on tour. We'll get you your own room and everything. Come out on the encores.' Ace said, 'No. The only way I'll come out is if I'm the Spaceman and you ask Tommy [Thayer, KISS's current guitarist] to leave.' I go, 'Well, that's not gonna happen.' First of all, I care about Ace, but he's not in shape — he can't play that way and doesn't have the physical stamina to do that…

"Look, we care about them," Gene added. "We started this thing together and they were equally important to the beginning of the band with Paul and I — no question. But as time went on… Not everybody is designed to run a marathon. Some people are designed to be in a band for a year or two, or a few years, and then that's all they can do. And both of them have been in the band three different times. How many chances in life do you get? All I know is when I put my hand in fire the first time, I got burnt; I didn't get a second or third chance.

"So, the answer is the door's always open," Simmons said. "If they wanna jump on stage at any time and do the encores with us, terrific. But no, we're not gonna get rid of Tommy or Eric [Singer, current KISS drummer]. In fact, Tommy and Eric are the best things that happened to us. They gave us new life [and] new appreciation for what we do because they were fans first. And every once in a while, Eric or Tommy will turn around and say, 'Wow! Isn't this great?' And it makes us realize, 'Yeah! Wow! Isn't this great?'"

Gene was also asked if he saw any of the video footage from the May 2022 Creatures Fest in Nashville where Criss, Frehley and fellow former KISS members Vinnie Vincent and Bruce Kulick all performed. He responded: "Somebody showed me about 30 seconds, yeah. It was very sad. I felt sad for Peter… When I called to invite Peter to be in the documentary, his health isn't what it should be. I don't wanna get too specific because it's part of his private life. But no, physically, he wouldn't be able to do it. Neither would Ace."

Malgré tout ce qui a été dit entre toutes les parties, Ace a affirmé qu'il se souvient toujours avec tendresse de son passage avec KISS et qu'il ne détestait pas ses anciens camarades du groupe.

"Écoutez, l'essentiel est le suivant : au fond de mon cœur, j'aime ces gars, parce que nous avons créé quelque chose de si spécial qu'on s'en souviendra pendant des années", a-t-il déclaré. "Quand nous serons tous morts et enterrés, il y aura encore des gens qui écouteront de la musique KISS. Et je suis ravi. Mais je veux que mon héritage soit débarrassé de toutes ces conneries et mensonges."

KISS a lancé sa tournée d'adieu en janvier 2019, mais a été contraint de la suspendre en 2020 en raison de la pandémie de COVID-19.

"End Of The Road" devait initialement se terminer le 17 juillet 2021 à New York, mais a depuis été prolongé jusqu'à fin 2023. Le trek a été annoncé en septembre 2018 à la suite d'une interprétation par KISS de la chanson classique du groupe "Detroit Rock City". sur "L'Amérique a du talent".

Dans une interview de juin 2022 avec le Chaoszine finlandais, on a demandé à Simmons si Frehley et Peter seraient impliqués dans les derniers concerts de KISS. Il a répondu : "Nous avons essayé. Tout ce que je sais, c'est quand je mets la main J'ai tiré la première fois, j'ai été brûlé, je n'ai pas eu de deuxième ou de troisième chance.

"Donc, la réponse est que la porte est toujours ouverte", a déclaré Simmons. "S'ils veulent monter sur scène à tout moment et faire les rappels avec nous, c'est génial. Mais non, nous n'allons pas nous débarrasser de Tommy ou d'Eric [chanteur, batteur actuel de KISS]. En fait, Tommy et Eric sont les meilleurs." des choses qui nous sont arrivées. On a également demandé à Gene s'il avait vu des séquences vidéo du Creatures Fest de mai 2022 à Nashville, où Criss, Frehley et d'autres anciens membres de KISS, Vinnie Vincent et Bruce Kulick, se sont tous produits. Il a répondu : "Quelqu'un m'a montré environ 30 secondes, oui. C'était très triste. Je me sentais triste pour Peter… Quand j'ai appelé pour inviter Peter à participer au documentaire, sa santé n'est pas ce qu'elle devrait être. Je ne le fais pas. Je veux être trop précis parce que cela fait partie de sa vie privée. Mais non, physiquement, il ne serait pas capable de le faire. Ace non plus.

Former Kiss guitarist Ace Frehley firmly ruled out the idea that he’ll make a guest appearance at the band’s final show this weekend.

Speculation that Frehley and original drummer Peter Criss might take part has been circulating for months, with co-founders Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley having said offers had been extended in the hope that both would join in for a few songs, perhaps at the encore. Those offers, Simmons and Stanley said, have been refused.

In a new interview on SiriusXM's Ozzy’s Boneyard, host Mark Strigl asked Frehley if there was any chance at all that he might be seen alongside his former colleagues at Madison Square Garden on Dec. 2. “No,” he replied firmly.

He continued: “Those guys use my name and Peter’s name months ago. They said that they invited us to perform at that show. I never got a phone call. Peter never got a phone call. They just said that to sell tickets. And recently, Paul Stanley has made negative statements about me and Peter. For example… when people asked him, ‘Is Peter and Ace gonna perform at the Garden?’ he said… we would mar the show if we got up and play. Which is really insulting.”

Ace Frehley Claims No Bad Feelings Against Kiss
Frehley noted that he’d been “touring without Kiss for years,” adding: “I mean, Kiss hasn’t put out an album in what, nine years? I’ve put out five or six.” He predicted his upcoming record, 10,000 Volts, would “really turn heads,” and went on: “I know Gene’s gonna really like it and tell the press he does like it. I have no idea what Paul Stanley’s gonna say. He usually holds back on any deep praise for me, because he’s jealous of me.”

Despite that apparent demonstration of continued bad feeling, Frehley insisted there was none. “I wish Kiss the best, all the best on their final shows,” he asserted. “We say things sometimes in the heat of passion or sometimes our memory [fails us]. But I love those guys. We’re all getting old, our memory isn’t what it used to be – so I just let it roll off my back.”

Frehley a noté qu'il « tournait sans Kiss depuis des années », ajoutant : « Je veux dire, Kiss n'a pas sorti d'album depuis quoi, neuf ans ? J’en ai sorti cinq ou six. Il a prédit que son prochain album, 10,000 Volts, « ferait vraiment tourner les têtes » et a poursuivi : « Je sais que Gene va vraiment l’aimer et dire à la presse qu’il l’aime. Je n’ai aucune idée de ce que Paul Stanley va dire. Il se retient généralement de me faire des éloges profonds, parce qu’il est jaloux de moi.

Malgré cette démonstration apparente d’un mauvais pressentiment persistant, Frehley a insisté sur le fait qu’il n’y en avait pas. "Je souhaite à Kiss le meilleur, tout le meilleur pour leurs derniers concerts", a-t-il affirmé. « Nous disons des choses parfois dans le feu de la passion ou parfois notre mémoire [fait défaut]. Mais j'adore ces gars. Nous vieillissons tous, notre mémoire n’est plus ce qu’elle était – alors je la laisse tomber sur mon dos.

On s'en doute depuis très longtemps, mais j'aurai eu l'espoir jusqu'au bout de le voir une dernière fois avec eux.

Forcément, s'il avait rejoué avec eux cela n'aurait été qu'une affaire d'argent !
Ace ne s'en est d'ailleurs jamais caché ; il ne serait revenu que pour l'argent...

Au départ du groupe, il y avait une alchimie indéniable... mais cinquante ans plus tard, leurs motivations ont changé.
Et surtout pour moi, Kiss n'existe plus depuis très, très longtemps. Probablement depuis le départ de Peter en 1980, et est devenu "Gene et Paul" ou "Paul et Gene" (PeG) et éventuellement "& co"....
Tous les musiciens qui se sont succédés depuis 1980, y compris les originaux revenus lors de la réunion, n'ont été que des faire-valoir aux ordres des deux leaders.

Malgré son talent, Vinnie avait beaucoup trop de caractère, comme Mark... Bye, bye.

Eric (Carr) et Bruce ; les gentils parfaits... Le premier est décédé et "PeG" ont rapidement préféré au second les deux drogués alcooliques fainéants (vous avez dit bizarre !) mais ce n'était que pour le fric !

Toujours à cause de l'argent, comme la Réunion a fonctionné beaucoup mieux que prévue, ces deux derniers se sont rapidement sentis floués et donc malheureux. Et qu'est-ce que l'on fait lorsque l'on est malheureux et que l'on s'appelle Ace ou Peter ? Evident ; picole + drogue puis je me recasse !

Et qu'est-ce que l'on fait lorsque l'on s'appelle Gene et Paul et que l'on veut continuer à gagner beaucoup d'argent sans trop se casser la tête ? Comme on a compris que la majorité des fans sont des moutons, on rachète le maquillage des deux drogués alcoolos, et on trouve deux clones gentils et sans caractère pour continuer cette histoire (sans fin) de dupes.. et comme les fans sont effectivement des moutons : cela marche...

Et Vive le tiroir-caisse !

Bref, la seule bonne chose dans cette histoire, c'est bien qu'il n'y aura qu'eux pour leur concert final !

Je suis d'accord avec toi dans les grandes lignes.

Pour moi, le Kiss que les fans vénèrent est mort après Love Gun, le dernier album de ce groupe avec une alchimie, où tous les membres sont impliqués.

Après... ce n'est que les deux autres qui ont géré le bizness...


Mais ils m'ont quand même fait rêver.

During an appearance on yesterday's (Thursday, November 30) episode of SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk", original KISS guitarist Ace Frehley was asked how he feels about the fact that his former bandmates are calling it quits after completing the "End Of The Road" farewell tour this weekend at Madison Square Garden in New York City. He responded (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "Well, to be honest, I don't really believe they're ending their touring career. How many times have they said they were gonna retire? How many times have half a dozen groups said they were gonna retire and still come back? Personally, I don't know what their plans are."

Asked if he personally has any emotions about KISS coming to an end as a touring entity, Frehley said: "Not at all. I'm so happy I'm not involved. Last night I watched [video of KISS's] Indianapolis show [from the current tour] from front to back on YouTube. They had 10 comments and maybe a couple of thousand views, but compared to what I'm doing right now, you can't hold a candle to it."

He added: "It's probably better they retire, and hopefully I won't have to listen to them put me down anymore."

Ace was also pressed to clarify that he won't be making a special guest appearance at the Madison Square Garden shows. He said: "Look, if Gene [Simmons, KISS bassist/vocalist] calls me up and offers me a million dollars to come up and play a couple of songs, obviously I'll show up. But I really doubt that's gonna happen because pretty much Paul [Stanley, KISS guitarist/vocalist] runs the band and he's already made a statement that if me and Peter [Criss, original KISS drummer] got up on the stage, we would mar their performance — ironically."

Asked what prompted him to watch a full KISS performance online from the band's ongoing tour, Ace said: "I was on YouTube looking to say how well my new single was being received, and it's going through the roof. And then I was just curious, so I clicked on KISS [playing in] Indianapolis. And I think they had 10 comments, 2,000 views or something like that. And it just made me realize how karma works, you know?"

Last month, Frehley told Mark Strigl of SiriusXM's Ozzy's Boneyard that he doesn't hold a grudge against KISS, despite all the badmouthing that has gone on between him and some of the other original KISS members in recent years.

"I wish KISS the best, all the best on their final shows for the 'End Of The Road' tour," he said. "There's really no hard feelings. We say things sometimes in the heat of passion or sometimes our memory isn't… [we don't] recall things. But I love those guys. We're all getting old, our memory isn't what it used to be, so I just let it roll off my back."

Also in November, Simmons lamented the absence of Frehley and Criss at KISS's final shows, telling 519 Magazine: "I feel sad. I feel sad and angry that both Ace and Peter aren't here. I mean, they're alive, but they're not here to enjoy this unbelievable journey with us. They were there at the beginning and deserve all the credit. And when they look in the mirror, the only reason they're not here with us is themselves.

"Inviting them was as much for the fans as it was for us. KISS has always been about the whole, not the individual. It would've been fitting to have all of us there, one last time."

This past June, Gene was asked by Barbara Caserta of Linea Rock about the possibility of Ace and Peter making guest appearances at the band's last-ever concerts in early December at Madison Square Garden in New York City. He responded: "For the fans — the older, older fans — the ones who've been around for 50 years, they're old, and some of them wanna see Ace and Peter. The newer fans never saw them and they don't know. But the older fans wonder about Ace and Peter. Well, I asked both Ace and Peter a few times: 'Do you wanna come out for the encores? Do you wanna do some shows?' And they both said 'no.' So, I don't know what to say about that… But it's always welcome. But there are many other big stars, superstars, who wanna jump up onstage and play a song. But we're not sure about that. Maybe the best thing to do is to end the way we started: four guys with guitars. No keyboards, no synthesizers — nothing. Just playing."

Eight months ago, Frehley told SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk" that he was still open to playing with KISS at the band's final shows in New York City. "Money motivates me, just like it motivates them, but I don't put money before God," he explained. "If I got a quarter of a million dollars a night, and I can make half a million dollars for playing three or four songs, five songs, I'd take the money. [I'd] buy a Ferrari… buy a Maserati. [Laughs] I don't really wanna play with those guys ever again after what they've done, but money can change my mind."

Frehley continued: "Look, I'm a capitalist. I grew up in America. But I'd never put money before people's feelings. I like money as much as the next guy does, but money isn't my God, like it is theirs. They're all atheists. Whatever they can do or say, whether it's true or false, as long as it makes them the most amount of money, they're gonna do [it]."

Ace also addressed the issue of whether he would perform with KISS at the band's final concerts while wearing his trademark "Spaceman" makeup — the same makeup his replacement Tommy Thayer has been sporting for more than two decades. "Sure. For a quarter of a million dollars," he said, explaining that "I'm a good-looking guy. I don't need the makeup."

When Trunk pressed Ace about what he thinks the odds are of him playing with KISS at the final concerts in New York, Frehley said: "It all depends on money. If I get a formal invitation with a check, I'll be there. But they've gotta have deep pockets… If they don't wanna pay me, I won't be there, ladies and gentleman."

Ace also once again confirmed that he had never received a formal invitation to join his former bandmates at their last-ever shows. "Absolutely not," he said. "From what I understand, the shows are sold out. The only reason they sold out is they made innuendos that me and Peter were gonna be there, [that] they invited us. I wasn't invited. They lie all the time. Haven't they said, 'We're inviting Ace and Peter to come up and play?' Or at least me? Multiple times. So, people bought the tickets. But I haven't been given a formal invitation or given an offer monetarily. And I'm probably not gonna get one now after this interview. And guess what: I don't give a shit."

Despite everything that has been said between all the parties, Ace claimed that he still looks back fondly on his time with KISS and he doesn't hate his former bandmates.

"Look, the bottom line is this: deep down in my heart, I love those guys, because we created something so special that it will be remembered for years," he said. "When we're all dead and buried, there will still be people listening to KISS music. And I'm overjoyed. But I want my legacy to be cleared of any of this bullshit and lies."

KISS launched its farewell trek in January 2019 but was forced to put it on hold in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"End Of The Road" was originally scheduled to conclude on July 17, 2021 in New York City but has since been extended to late 2023. The trek was announced in September 2018 following a KISS performance of the band's classic song "Detroit Rock City" on "America's Got Talent".

In a June 2022 interview with Finland's Chaoszine, Simmons was asked if Frehley and Peter would have any involvement in KISS's final concerts. He responded: "We've tried. I keep trying. Paul and I met with Ace, trying to convince him to come back. He said, 'I want this. I want that.' Well, we can't do that. I asked Ace and Peter to be in the documentary ['Biography: KISStory', which premiered on A&E in June 2021]. They said no. They might do it if they have complete control of the edit. I said, 'We can't do that, because even we don't have that. But I won't control what you say; you can say whatever you want.' The answer is no — both of them. I asked Ace and Peter, 'Come out on tour. We'll get you your own room and everything. Come out on the encores.' Ace said, 'No. The only way I'll come out is if I'm the Spaceman and you ask Tommy [Thayer, KISS's current guitarist] to leave.' I go, 'Well, that's not gonna happen.' First of all, I care about Ace, but he's not in shape — he can't play that way and doesn't have the physical stamina to do that…

"Look, we care about them," Gene added. "We started this thing together and they were equally important to the beginning of the band with Paul and I — no question. But as time went on… Not everybody is designed to run a marathon. Some people are designed to be in a band for a year or two, or a few years, and then that's all they can do. And both of them have been in the band three different times. How many chances in life do you get? All I know is when I put my hand in fire the first time, I got burnt; I didn't get a second or third chance.

"So, the answer is the door's always open," Simmons said. "If they wanna jump on stage at any time and do the encores with us, terrific. But no, we're not gonna get rid of Tommy or Eric [Singer, current KISS drummer]. In fact, Tommy and Eric are the best things that happened to us. They gave us new life [and] new appreciation for what we do because they were fans first. And every once in a while, Eric or Tommy will turn around and say, 'Wow! Isn't this great?' And it makes us realize, 'Yeah! Wow! Isn't this great?'"

Gene was also asked if he saw any of the video footage from the May 2022 Creatures Fest in Nashville where Criss, Frehley and fellow former KISS members Vinnie Vincent and Bruce Kulick all performed. He responded: "Somebody showed me about 30 seconds, yeah. It was very sad. I felt sad for Peter… When I called to invite Peter to be in the documentary, his health isn't what it should be. I don't wanna get too specific because it's part of his private life. But no, physically, he wouldn't be able to do it. Neither would Ace."
